Help and Questions / Remove that annoying confirmat...
Last post by phanoo - August 08, 2025, 11:04:24
Hi,
Just a simple and easy life improvement, i am constantly dealing with that popup "This sample is not used by any instrument. Do you want to create a new instrument using this sample ?". I don't care about the outcome (creating a new instrument for it or not), i just want to create a new sample.
Could you add an option to disable that popup? (maybe two options : create an instrument by default, or don't create an instrument)

I am seeking help for my 'obsessive compulsive posting disorder' (If that's not a recognised condition, it should be these days) might also get my ears syringed and sort the ingrowing toe nail at the same time.

Hey all and 0ctoqu1d,
It's pretty strange, I feel like I'm in a similar position to you - just joined the forum and wanted to say hi too, then saw your post doing the same thing and more or less echoing my experience with MPT too! Although mines on a slightly longer timeline ...  :-[

Started using MPT early 2000's and fell in love with it. Made a few tracks, made a few friends did some collabs then life got in the way. I started making music again a few years back and tried a couple of daws but none of them felt as comfortable as I remembered MPT being. I gave in and got a copy and haven't looked back.

I definitely relate to that sense of connection with MPT. I don't know if it's nostalgia or because I like the way it works with all its little quirks - but I really enjoy using it!

Anyway I hope you carry on enjoying MPT and maybe even get to listen to some of your tracks. I'm at a point where I think I'll be posting some tunes soon so I will possibly see you all around very soon!

Free Music Downloads / [Youtube] [Dance] AxeREcords ...
Last post by genxtech - August 03, 2025, 14:43:25
Still expanding playlist (now 7) of video's in which I play the original Modules for the songs of my recordlabel AxeREcords in OpenMPT (my favorite for decades now!).
No talk, just the music and the visuals. I hope you like it and maybe even pick up a few tricks.

Let me know on how to improve the content. Also thinking of starting livestreaming of whole grinding sessions.

FreeBSD 14.3, Wine 10.12, OpenMPT 1.32.03. Still no luck, compilation fails at 72%.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought, and I'm already discussing it with a coder friend of mine. Thanks for having had a look at it ;-)

Yeah I'd sort of been thinking about that too, that sounds like it'd be more complex given that editing a spreadsheet seems like a more easily hotkeyable task than sampling. Also I feel like more energy would be spent editing the pattern than the samples in most projects, so I can see why the pattern editor probably took priority. Although I've only really been writing chiptune with really basic NES samples so I wouldn't really have a good perspective on that lol, I use like 5 samples total and they're simply looped so I virtually do no sample editing. I'd use famitracker but I sort of wanted to learn a more general purpose tool rather than something just for chiptune. Anyways thanks! I'll let you know if I think of anything else, but to be honest it's pretty much solid as it is.

Cheers :) If there's some shortcuts missing, you can always bring them up (like you already did). Long-term I want better keyboard-driven sample editing, but it requires a bit more effort.
