You can get there if you press more info, but someone that has done some research and just want to get the program will never find it, unless they access the forum itself. pity...

You are correct, and that is something that I will rectify ASAP.
Has this been forgotten or is ASAP not reached yet  ::)

Lack of this rectification still bothers me a bit; maybe it's good to explain why.

After the current modplug.com appearance was introduced, OMPT downloads at sourceforce seemed to decrease to about half of the number it was before it, but I would think that modplug downloads didn't go down in entirety, but instead that half download 1.16 instead. I find that bit weird since for example if someone downloads 1.16, inspired by that registers to the forum and posts something here, maybe one of the first responses would say 'download the RC2'. I can imagine that not so few people would find it annoying that the direct link in the site gives you something else than the version considered the latest among the users in the forum.

LPChip

Yeah I agree, also it sucks that the download of 1.16 goes to another site which makes it even less convinient to download mpt at all...

It seems to me that many of the people who expressed that they'd rather wait for a new system have actually left... Is there *any* progress whatsoever? It's been over a year now. Also, there are far too many stickies.

LPChip

Yes, there is progress. Its slow, but there's progress!

I double that inspite of LPChip's reply.

I would suggest putting out a simple, but working site and then slowly growing it on. Modplug's been dead for too long and it's time to give it a new life.

rewbs

De-announcing. This is no longer current news.

A request/idea for the site(current or upcoming(?)): would it reasonably easy to add somekind of automatic indexing for the bug/feature requests(in practice means(?) some sort of bug/feature request database) so that it would be easier to refer to them?

LPChip

Yeah, sure, once we'll be up to that, its easy to implement. :)

edit: basically a reference to the topic id could work.

I too voted for use and modify an existing system, like Rewbs said, there are great CMS systems out there that have great customisation options.
Personally I'd go for http://drupal.org/ it's a damn fine one.
of course there's always the phpnuke etc stuff too but meh, I never did like phpnuke

The progress of the system is too far to stop with it now, and besides, I really want to make this system. This is just a motivation for me to actually do it. :)
