"He came to me born upon the eastern wind"
"his face, a wisp of smoke, his hair, the deepening dusk"
"and he spoke in a voice I could not hear"
"release me child"
"release my spirit"
"from this dead land"
"and so I did...."

Quite a wild piece, Clones. And thanks for adding the XM.

Notes as i'm listening:

Boy i don't know what to make of this! Loud and annoying like punk. Thematic like progressive rock. Low bit rates and reverse words like late 70s analog tape meets 80s synthesis. Another fine collage by uncloned! No wonder Sam_Zen liked it

The video in my head is one of fast cutaways and stark superimposed newsreel shorts. Perhaps a smattering of those old 60s psychedelic lightblobs and images of unseen war clips (unseen because they're so graphic)!

Hi Harbinger,

When continuing on after the one hour compo attempt I got a picture of The Ghost and Mrs Muir. And this time Mrs Muir returned him to the spirit world.

Kristin helped out by reciting some lines I wrote for her and singing one or two notes. The rest was sample manipulation - it was my first or second attempt to re-construct words from cut up consonants and vowels. The spell is the result - the main problem was I wanted more of Kristin but she was not available. Compared to the goal it failed miserably.

I also learned that having a guitar sound with a dark tone worked best because there were less harmonics to be disturbed when playing back at different sample speeds (notes). A guitar, like the human voice, has a "format" superimposed on the string sound. I think (not sure) it is the wood as well as the electronics that does this. (No amplifier is usually involved for me since the late 90's.)

I should add I've always hated the ending - it sucks - it does not climax and does not let down properly. On the bright side this is one piece Debbie really likes and that is nice. I find family is *very* hard to please.  Much harder than most everyone I've met on the internet in fact :-)
