Got a bit more of the pattern editor in.   I have adsr envelopes with working note stop for the release knob, definitely make it sound like a flute!!!

I will get it done,  but i'm in the lack of motivation the final 4 hours of solid code gives u,  just going a snails pace...

Its pretty nice,   but making chip is so old,  should use the fm synthesizer its way newer to make cool songs with!!!

<edit>

oh cool  Technetium came straight after! and its what I wanted to hear!!

was it 100% the synthesizer, even the drums?
it looked like it by the look of the scope, but its hard to be sure.

2:45 loved the noisy ("crispy"?) type strings that came in there,  and the drums were cool if they were synthesized. and it sorta continued from there even had some moch voices come in from the tracks+synth.

Free Music Downloads / [Chiptune] Eek! A Spooky Ghost...
Last post by Magmania - December 19, 2024, 03:27:48

A song for a frightening encounter with a spooky ghost!

This track was made using the instruments from the song "The Penis - Eek!" by Surasshu that became a meme a while ago. Here is the download link for that module.

After learning that the song was a tracker module, I downloaded it to take a look. I ended up trying out the instruments and used some of its techniques. Every time I do a cover or look at the project file of a song, I end up learning new tricks or spending more time with a technique I don't utilize very much.

I think this song turned out really good. I could've made this thing stretch to over 4 minutes long but I decided to keep it shorter. There are some places I could improve the song but I do really like it. I'll openly admit to listening to this song for most likely well over an hour in total since I finished it a few days ago. (I always intend to make the music I want to hear and sometimes a track just clicks with me.)

I've always kind of struggled making proper chiptune stuff in OpenMPT for some reason, but I guess all it took was proper inspiration for me to churn out 90% of this song in one afternoon ;D I tend to use other software for making chiptunes (Furnace Tracker is my other main tracker) but for songs which have a more heavy reliance on samples, OpenMPT is my go-to.

Here is the link to the Newgrounds upload if you would rather listen to/download the mp3 of it, and the YouTube upload shows the tracker view as well.

Alright, enough blabbing. I should start creating the sample lists and cleaning up the modules for all the tracks of my OpenMPT album so I can share it here. Dunno when I'll get around to doing that but it will happen.

WASAPI is the default. MME is emulated through WASAPI since Windows Vista, so it's surprising that MME is working for you but WASAPI isn't.

What happens if you choose "WASAPI - Default Device", and what's the output format it is set to?

Also, to better understand what the problem is it would still be good to know in what way WASAPI output is not working. Is OpenMPT unable to start playback (no movement in pattern or sample editors), or does it appear to play something but you just don't hear it?

Its visual studio 2022 64 bit,  gdi for graphics and libsoundio for sound.
And I code a form of quasimoto c in c++ to get things done.

The synthesizer + tracker combo is really cool,  tracker gets the sequencing done really fast and the synth handles all the unique voices,   I've actually got 1000 voices per song on this thing,  never probably use them all - and I dont know how many sounds I can get out of the synth yet,  but theres quite a few.

I'm proud of what I got out of it,  it was a big step personally for me getting it done,   all the sound I did before wasn't as good because I didn't have a proper basic grasp on synthesizers like I do now.

Thank you very much for your reply. Much appreciated.

I think I resolved the issue. It seems that when I did a windows 11 update, the OpenMPT changed my default output device.
I had to go into settings and changed it to MME-RealTeck Digital Output. MME is the only version that would work.
I thought WASAPI would work but does not. My settings someone changed to WASAPI. Once I changed the output to MME, I got the player to play and sound working.

This is a tracker with all its sounds it makes coming off one synthesizer,   Its just coming together now, Ive been working on it a bit over a week, and theres a couple of days left.  (About a little less than 4 hours work left.)  But with no tracker effects, but with a synthesizer as the input, it doesnt really need them so much anyway.

Heres a couple of youtube vids, I got a quick skin on it to make it look cool, but its got plenty of flashing bugs, I can probably get rid of them tho.

Quote from: n0cturn on December 17, 2024, 14:02:26I just enjoy the process of making a noise.

Noise is the other word for it, and theres nothing wrong with that,  Just think how much extra body you get by ripping some a-harmonic notes besides each other.  I prefer it putting hairs on my chest, than listening to wimpy girly shit.
