The sample work really could need some love, notes are cut off very abruptly. But given the age it's probably to be expected.

I'm gonna make a number of assumptions.... 
The solo string you have is a Contrabass sample. The note cut offs Saga referred to is probably the slow attack on the sample waveform. Though in the IT New Note Actions you can set it to sample fade.

Which isn't to say as mentioned it's an old piece so I'm sure your skilled have been honed much more now!

You're both right. Also, there's way too much repetition and it needs some extra variation as well.

My skillss have improved, but I still have a lot to learn.
