you guys always shout at me "ModPlug is not a midi editor!" if Modplug has midi editing features in it, why do you guys make such a big deal when I use it for midi related stuff? if it is not a midi editor, why have midi support if you are going to make a big deal about it not being a midi editor when people (such as myself) ask midi related questions or post midi related issues?

I don't see any MIDI editing features in OpenMPT. You can import (not natively load MIDI files through OpenMPT's shaky import feature. And you can do very basic MIDI export as well (not save). What's the difference between importing and loading? Importing means that OpenMPT tries to convert a file from some foreign format into something it can internally represent.
In this case, it converts a MIDI file to an IT module file, which is a quite different format internally. This means that most information stored in MIDI files gets lost when importing them. Exporting a MIDI files converty the module file back to the standard MIDI format, and again it leaves out a lot of information.
Dedicated MIDI software would always use the MIDI format or a compatible format which can be converted to MIDI without losing any data - this is not possible in OpenMPT. MIDI support in OpenMPT is not native, and it should thus just be used when absolutely necessary, and not seen as a default way of storing files.
If something doesn't work in MIDI import/export, it is just to be expected, because OpenMPT is not a MIDI editor. A MIDI editor would be a program which can edit MIDIs natively. OpenMPT is a module editor.

well I've been experimenting with the 'midi export' function with random modules found on the net just to make Band-in-a-Box (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_in_a_box) styles out of the midis and Band-in-a-Box can generate 100s of midis out of those styles when is later imported into Sony ACID I can use DLS or VSTi's to snazz up a good song...

That still doesn't make OpenMPT a midi editor. It just means the function is not as broken, but it also doesn't mean that it all of the sudden works flawlessly.

And if you're wondering why people seem to shout at you for your questions, maybe should reread your own posts. You like to use caps and exclamation points AND IT SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING AT PEOPLE, even if you don't mean to. ???  As a general rule, i don't even read your posts anymore.

From my own perspective, your posts sound childish and i would guess that either you're 12 years old or under, you have a mental condition, you have ZERO empathy or social skills, or you just like being an A-hole. No matter what the reason, everyone here treats even dumb questions like they're innocent and are happy to answer them, but you have to understand two things: 1. it's very easy to misinterpret the intention or tone behind the written word (or in this case, 'typed') unless someone has excellent writing skills (which few people do), and 2. not everyone here's first language is English, so they may not be aware that the phrase they used, or the way they worded a response, sounds sarcastic or harsher than it was meant to be.

In any case, you can expect others to be gentle with their diction when you are with yours. And believe me, if you look at some of my first posts, you'll see i started out like you (i used to think Jojo -- SagaMusix -- was such a jackass, but he's only German, even though he knows English pretty darn well, and Germans are stereotypically a little more 'assertive' in their socialization; however, he's come a long way when dealing with others online too). But i realized i needed to approach things more respectfully, and assume i'm being respected by these faceless internet users hundreds of miles away. You should too.
I can honestly say, if anyone answers your questions, they probably know what they're talking about, so don't treat them like they're idiots, like you did in your opening post...

A little wisdom from an old geezer: you'll get respect AFTER you give it. 8)
