Every question I encounter I will per default take indeed seriously. No matter what, and, almost, no matter who.
But after consideration questions-answers, sometimes the output can have a sarcastic form.
Questions like : Should you take the laundry out of the washing machine, before it has stopped turning ?

How about channel 9 of pattern 24 then ?

I do that all the time. My dad always told me it would take your arm off, but then he said the same thing about the toilet

I could try to force my penis into channel 4 of pattern 16, but I don't think it would work.

Perhaps a bit off topic but I'm really curious to why you Germans are so fanatic about your language?. Besides Germany I can only think of another country who dubs adult movies and that is Spain.

I don't look porn films, so I don't know if you are right about what you said... (by the way, I am a spaniard). But I'm sure that porn films are dubbed in others countries also. Just look at the indian film "La boda del monz?n" (that's the title in spanish; I can't imagine the original one, and I guess in english should be "The monzon wedding", but I'm not sure), which is in fact a pretty film. In a scene, there is a TV program with a woman expert on dubbing... just see the film, it is worthy.

definitly offtopic...
i saw that movie in an Indian Cinema with its original language Hindi when i spent 7 month in India
yes, it is one of the first Indian films pointing on problems deep hidden inside traditional and now-a-days Hindu society...but i'm not that satisfied with it...like "what does it tell us anyway" (about India)...
ok...don't have more negative comments on that...after all it's of course the better choice compared with "kabhi khushi kabhi gham" "kuch jao nahi" and how all these movies are called...

Hey - I'm the one who should be blamed for that! ;)

Just want to say that the German language isn't purely "German".

That's because the German's are an offshoot race of the Norse, or better dubbed, "The Vikings".

This is also true for Celts, Scots and those civilized gentlemen that drink tea at noon.

Amish are really German, not Dutch. During immigration, they confused Dutch with Deutsch and because of the anti-Nazi movement in America at the time, the Amish weren't going to rock the boat and said, "whatever".

I must sound like a know it all, but the effects of watching too much history channel has to go some where.
Yeah, sure. Right. Whatever.

i'm not sure, wether i should agree or not.
i agree that there is definitly NO historical ethnic group/people that is "the Germans", but they are  more or less NOT the result of any Viking...
the Germans are not a people that grew historically, the "Germans" were made politically by creating frontiers and call anybody inside "German" (like it happened and happens all over the world...)
till 18th century Germany was bittlery divided into small kingdoms, countries, nations and before 1848 (the first formation of a German nation) there wasn't ANY motivation and feeling of being GERMAN at all.
if the Germans are defined by their language than again it's not the result of any Viking, it's the result of Martin Luther's bible translation that by its huge propagation and success among normal man defined most of the nowadays orthographic and grammatical rules of the German language...
also that languagical impact of Norse is questionable in my opinion: as almost all European language originate from the same mother language (like latin, sanskrit, avestian do too)...the question just is if there has been much Norse influence at all...most similarities could be the result of the same origin, not of a later mixture...

of course there might have been Vikings (or whatevers), but i think that this Viking-story definitly misses the main problem and if we keep in mind that that happened in the 10th/11th century AND it took some more 500 years till German appeared and almost 700 years till the term Germany came into people's conscioussness, so their contribution can't play a major role

well...
i'm sure nobody's really  interested in that stuff i'm busy with in university. i don't want to call this Norman-story a lie, just lower it's historical impact...

I'm interested, and I agree that it's a bit of an overstatement to claim that Germans, Celts, Scots and those civilized gentlemen that drink tea at noon were all "an offshoot race of the Norse".

We're all offshoot races of apes anyway.
