Well I suppose you fellows have noticed that I'm back after being away for quite a long while. So I just wanted to fill in the gap.

A few years ago many of you know I decided to turn my hobby composing into a career. I was doing alright but composing freelance unfortunately is not the most stable income.
I decided, it was time to move out into my own place and found a Hi-tech job as a technical analyst for a steady income.

I initially thought I could compose at the same time as I was working. Needless to say I worked like a slave and had little energy to compose. I didn't create too many works and was working for almost a year.

I don't know if you guys feel the same, but I came to learn that when not releasing my creative and imaginative energies, it builds up and you start getting very frustrated. My closest outlet for them was reading and I actually found myself reading voraciously when I was the busiest.

The other outlet I found was get seriously involved in sound effects and field recording. I ended up gearing up, and going out after work to crazy places, recording crazy things.

Anyhow my rent lease was up and I decided to hell with signing a new lease for a year forcing myself to say at the company.

Having not had a holiday for over 8 years, I quit and left for a nice long holiday where I forgot about work and worry for a month. It was great (plus I recorded some cool SFX in Africa).

Getting back I decided to revamp my business plan for the music, and after a long while, I'm back here at the Forums...

So that's my story...

Now I have a lot of music I have to hear in the Music Downloads section..
And expect a couple of additions to the list from me.

Cheers.

I much better understand your concern with unpaid downloads.

Welcome back to composing, and I've felt the same when working at a job that took everything emotionally and physically.

Nahkranoth

Welcome back KK!
Hope you've got a couple of tunes in your pocket! :D

Welcome Back KrazyKatz,

I had the exact same thing too, though not as dramatic as you.

I also started on an own business together with someone else, and in order to be able to get through the first months, I decided to keep my fulltime job next to it. It was just impossible for me to do this. I decided that having a fulltime job and starting my own business is just not going to happen if I do music and all aspects of the business.

So we basically decided it was a bad idea.

I still have my job, but in order for me to have enough energy to make music, I started to work less hours.

This essential stops me from draining energy so I can use that energy to make music in my spare time.

Wellcome back! Nice to see that people are still around and working. I hope we can hear soon some new tunes from you

hey Katz, long time no c, and let us have asap those long awaited compositions of yours. :D

That is an interesting story you have there, and it was almost expected to end this way. I couldn't do full day jobs and compose besides them neither, but if i don't have a work (that i could depend on) and don't have a stable financial background, cannot make a normal living, so its a kinda tough decision what should the man do, what combination will end up the best.

I still lurk a fair amount and listen to some of the posted music, but have been quite lazy about posting comments.  To the extent I have time for composing, I'm usually working with Sibelius now.

I will say I also tried Renoise, and, despite all of its features, I like MPT better, and hope that I'll get back to tracking soon.

Are you still using MPT as your sequencer?
