First of all, Twitter is proprietary (hehehe) while Identi software is under AGPL and the content is under Creative Commons. So it sort of appeals to me.

Yes, of course it can. Please, read this up, I will not go into explanations here (no offense meant, I just don't have the time)

Anyway, I managed to set up a feed to my own website, so now I can broadcast the microblog there. You can so this too! =)
