Year: 1980

Album:
Home Movies

Artist's description:
Fender Stratocaster
Sears Organ (2 manuals and foot pedals)
electric mistress flanger
echoplex
and distortion pedal
one cassette deck
one reel to reel
turntable and an LP "commemorating" our glorious armed forces.
a TV
some random movie murder
a couple of small bells
a parakeet
screams

yes it gets a bit boring in the middle - editing in 1980 at home wasn't what it is today you know ;-)

Lyrics

The choices are so real
And I only have to try
Before can feel you standing before me
Showing me all the things
The colors are so real
And the beginning is only the the end

In an eddy of something bigger
Bigger than it all is
No matter a tiny a twist you make
It will in all ways be larger in the end

A very nice collage, Clones ! And a nice song when the lyrics start..

thanks for the listen and comment Sam

The slowed down movie I find really interesting - seems to heighten the drama with the effect. Of course I cna't take too much credit - it was just a couple switches  :)

Notes as i'm listening:

Wow, a little Led Zeppelin for a moment, then the horse races begins, then the bugler finds his crack, while running from Godzilla?! Then all out war??

Talk about a pastiche of sound! Like a medley of everything strange about the composer! Good guitar work, horrible engineering (which is prob'ly purposeful), and anti-establishment FX...

You need to see a shrink.    :D

thanks for the listen and comment Harbinger.

as far as engineering goes - I only had a mono 4 channel mixer split into 2 right and 2 left channels (Sam has one of these Radio Shack 9 volt battery wonders) and two tape recorders. No EQ let alone anything more sophisticated. I didn't purchase a graphic equalizer until my cassette album Two Old Friends which was.... 84-85 I think. I wish it was better engineered because I like some of the work from this period... But that wasn't remotely possible.

Godzilla is a slowed down parakeet :-) Speed transformations can do *so* much!!
