It doesn't have to be STM. S3M supports Adlib sounds as well.

I did just listen to a tune by Skaven with FM synthesized samples. Cool tune! I will study this. Scream Tracker really is the thing!

no need, got it myself through trial and error - raw 8 bit mono 22kHz and less
