[Classical] Orchestral Sonata in D Minor (Horizon) (MP3)

I wrote this track around the start of the July. It's my first "real" orchestral track (it's actually in a classical form!), and I personally consider it one of my best... I have to thank my girlfriend for all the help with it: she was very instrumental in the opening and closing bars.

I've also included my first draft of the full orchestral score, if anyone's interested. I put this together using Lilypond (free, opensource music engraving software - very nice, if a little bit hard to get your head around) soon after writing the piece (within about two weeks), but haven't got round yet to fixing up all the little problems that I know are in the score. I've circled and corrected them by hand on a print out, though. =P

Nice to see others involved in the classical art-form.
Very impressive French horn construction. Good blending of all the articulations. Wasn't particularly impressed with the piccolo solo. I think a bold piece should have a "real" closing instead of a modern "leave it open" approach. Otherwise it loses its grandeur.

Thanks! As it was my first "real" orchestral piece in quite a while (now that I have Kontakt, I can finally get some of the sounds in my head into something real), I'm still practising... =)

Sorry, but i'm not able to come up with a detailed analysis like KrazyKatz (never learned that stuff, maybe it's also my lack of English knowledge .
i can only say that this one sounds great (and also "far away")

Cubaxd: Yeah, I made the track using OpenMPT. =) It's just that I used Kontakt, which has a 14GB sample library. =D
