I have almost the same Casio keyboard - I think it differs only in colors. Nice thingy though the instruments on it sound really cheap!

Back then it wasn't too bad, but yes cheesy by today's standards - especially east west or kontakt sample sets. I've heard people using Garritan Personal Orchestra with such dexterity it sounded like a real recording. That is astounding to me.

It's a bit more spacey than I thought it would be, but 61 keys will suffice for a long time for me.


Now learning to play that thing, or even only placing the fingers on it like they should be, that's a whole another story...

re: 61 keys - it became limiting when I starting  to compose real piano pieces. - Your mileage may vary of course.

I'm sure you can find more resources. However, I may still have some scale fingerings and such left from my piano class work in college.

Today I've looked into the latency in detail. In Renoise, with several VST instances running and CPU at around 25%, I can set the ASIO latency to 4ms and not hear any clicking. 5ms was the default setting, and I've had no problems with it. On 2ms the sound starts to crackle, but hey, 4ms is much better than I expected...

own the xboard 49.... it's quite robust, the keys are not too dynamic though.
the software that comes with it is shitty, but normally you won't need it.
don't think it's too great for people who really wanna play piano pieces with it.
the controller knobs are ok but don't have any noticeable steps. the control buttons are real crap and fragile though.
