This is a microtonal piece using 17 EDO (equal divisions of the octave)

I tried to pay more attention to melody with this piece. While I do modulate it is a primitive abrupt modulation. I plan to work more with this tuning.

I love the beginning of this.  Later it's a little too microtonal for me.

I like the scale. Melody is still somewhat withdrawn, I think.

Thanks for the listen and comment Sam!

By withdrawn you mean still hesitant?

Sam_Zen

Yep, like that. Or maybe cautious.

Basically I need to work in a couple tunings quite a bit to get some more "mapping" in my mind. In 17 ET a "whole" step was played like a minor third and sometimes the proper "half" step was played a major 2nd, sometimes a minor 2nd.

I have become increasingly dissatisfied with scored music - it sounds dead compared to my performed pieces - I need to increase my performance skills keyboard and guitar to play what I am starting to hear/feel/desire.

Nice tube.. In these classical settings, a woman always plays the 'drone'. :)

Very interesting. It could lead to a dilemma, but it doesn't have to.
Checking the process : Scored music is programmed music, just like the tracker-codes.
So it takes some time and work, 'producing the score', before any sound comes up.
Playing as a direct performance is just a different area of expression.
The difference between reading out a speech, or having a conversation, maybe.

interesting analogy....

I need to think about this. I am, however, recording what I can midi, and as appropriate, applying corrections. Sometimes though what I do is beyond repair :-)

There is a guy, IT-Alien (Fabio Napadono) who composes meticulously - he sounds like live performers in music he scores in renoise with VSTi samples. In talking to him it takes lots of work. Back in the 90's I had that patience - I haven't lately.
