Estimate time wrong

Is there a problem with the estimate song length? Seems to be off by quite a bit when I've used it lately. Can't say what version it started with but its off with the latest version.

While the estimate can be off in extremely specific circumstances involving certain effect commands, I am not aware of any particular bugs. Please provide an example module where the estimate appears to be off, and what the expected time should be.

Also note that when using anything but modern tempo mode, the duration of a tick may differ at different mixing rates. The song length estimation is always done at the mix rate currently used for playback, but when e.g. playing a module at 48 kHz but then exporting it at 44 kHz, the length may be different - the longer the track, the bigger the difference will become.

Having had the chance to test this on another computer system, I can say the problem is with MY system NOT Openmpt. (think I should have done that before setting off the fire alarm and getting the whole building evacuated)

So sorry, false alarm.

That's still a bit strange though. Do you mean that the time estimate is different on two machines? Or does the song play at different speeds on the two machines? In both cases it could still be related to mix rates found in OpenMPT's Sound Card settings, otherwise I wouldn't be able to explain the difference.

The song played at the same (expected) speed on both computers just that on my system it estimated the time as being about 40 seconds longer than it actually was when exported to mp3 (for a 3 minute song 40 seconds off was a big difference) the second computer the estimated length pretty much matched the mp3 file.

A while back I had a pretty annoying (but not serious) virus infection on my system which I thought I'd dealt with, but it has left some things a bit glitchy which I'd been ignoring. Now I think its time to bite the bullet and do full system install. I was hoping to avoid having to reinstall everything.
