OpenMPT 1.30 Windows XP RETRO builds

To cater to other retro-computing users, we decided to again provide OpenMPT builds targeted for Windows XP.

However, due to increased difficulty and maintenance overhead, we might discontinue these again at any time without further notice. Also note that we will not invest any effort to make any particular feature available again on retro systems. These builds will thus feature no installer, no official release packages, no security fixes, and no active support. They will only be available via our automated build infrastructure https://builds.openmpt.org/.

Please only use these builds if you are running Windows XP (x86), Windows XP x64 (amd64), or Windows Vista (x86, amd64). Otherwise, use the proper installer or portable packages.
List of features missing in retro builds:
  • ARM (32bit) architecture support
  • ARM64 (64bit) architecture support
  • SSE2 optimizations
  • Installer and Portable Packages
  • Official Release Builds
  • Security Fixes
  • Spectre Security Mitigations
  • Proper High-DPI-Scaling support
  • Update Check and Automated Update
  • Places Links in File Dialog
  • Audio scheduling via Multimedia Class Scheduler Service
  • WASAPI sound devices
  • WDM-KS sound devices
  • ASIO sound devices
  • MediaFoundation sample import

List of features only available in retro builds:
  • Audio scheduling via Thread Priority
  • DirectSound sound devices
  • Support for 586-class CPUs

Since the entire source code for that OS was leaked a few months back, it isn't recommended for anyone to use it, at least not online.
For the longest time I would have been among the remaining few to urge support for 32bit systems running XP, but even I have finally moved on.

Absolutely correct, which is why we do not even try to provide any security fixes here. It would be rather pointless.

For the longest time I would have been among the remaining few to urge support for 32bit systems running XP, but even I have finally moved on.

However there are still people who want to run retro-systems (for whatever reasons). We provide these retro builds as an option for those people (instead of using an ancient version of OpenMPT on an ancient system).
