Suggestion for upload site

After a lengthy discussion (which somehow took us around to talking about Russian politics!), we've decided to go with Louigi's DiscShelf. I thought it was too "public" even though it's a targetted audience, plus i can see that site becoming big in the future. I wanted to go with SoOn, mostly because of a little trust i've developed with uncloned.

However, her convincing argument was that DiscShelf allows her to "hide" her music there (and presumably unhide it later), which is primarily what she needed to do. Plus we like the fact that the admin (Louigi) is with us in these forums, and that gives us a little more recourse in case of complaints or problems (and the same can be said with SoOn and a couple of the others).

Both of these sites are very well designed, easily navigable, small, and trusted -- all very important traits we were looking for.

We will upload to DiscShelf now, but later Tassel of Blue has said that if she gets something like a "following" she will also upload to SoOn.

actualy theres aproblem. first of all th activation numbr said it didnt work,but when i logged in it was fine.then i found out u have to upload ech mp3.i told u i didnt wnat to do that.it has to be 1 whole album file

i change my mind.ill try So On...

I'm afraid you will get the same prob there. If the albums contains several tracks as MP3, then you will have to upload them seperately, or at least using some batch-script to do the group in one time.

If you want 1 whole album file, then you'll have to make it one big MP3.

Maybe I can help - just tell me what you want.

On Disc Shelf there are three modes of albums - private (noone can see), public - everyone can see, secret - not available on profile, accessible only via URL.

You can upload mp3. You can upload one big mp3, no problem. But you cannot make album visible if it has no tracks, so that people don't bump into empty albums.

Yeah, and you can also upload several mp3 at once.

You have a nice site, but it doesn't suit our purposes presently. There is more than .mp3 files in the archive file....

Our time is up for this weekend (we may be able to get on the internet on Wednesday). We'll try again next weekend....

Yes, I see. Well, ok. Then I would advice going for SoOn, I think they can set up a page for you and it would be the best solution.
