Hello, I noticed that quite a few people here play bass according to my musical background thread. I just got my first, and I have a few questions.

1) The strings are hitting the frets sometimes, is this normal?
1-1/2) If not, how do I adjust that?

Thanks for your time. Track on!
Anyone can do anything if they have nothing else to do

Most musicians are talented. I'm just determined.

This shouldn't happen, unless you are hitting the strings with extreme violence. There can be several reasons:
1- The strings are too loose. Make sure that you are using the ciorrect strings for your bass, and they are correctly tuned.
2- The neck may not be straight. Or the "puente" (bridge? I don't know the correct word in english: it is the piece where all the string ended in the extreme opposite to the neck) may be too low. A solution for this is raising this pieces, putting something (it may be just a piece of paper) to force up the strings.

Of course, it is very hard to know what the problem is without seeing it.
