This is quite good

though I'd call it more Pink Floyd / Alan Parson's project space rock

Thanks for sharing

This is great work, KrazyKatz! I like the bass pedal point. :)

It's got quite an "uplifting" sound to it - almost joyous. Happy sleepwalking?

Sam_Zen

A joy indeed. I fancy the part half way.
Although I miss a bit of the more 'weird' aspects of sleepwalking in this piece.

Your tunes are always worth a listen, or two, or three, ... :)

I was wondering why Barry and Sam were talking about sleewalking, but thanks to Wikipedia, I have a clue now :D

BTW: What's the genre of the game? I could imagine this as the background music of a puzzle or strategy game.

Nahkranoth

Damn beautiful!!! Reminds me of one of the Skaven's tracks created for a known game  , where under a seemingly simple tune you got quite a lot going on.
I wonder, KrazyKatz, how you always manage to maintain such perfect quality even within 128 kbps, where you could easily lose those sparkling highs and stereo image?

mrvegas

Cool tune.  Very dreamy.  Nice to hear a longer, more complete song from you.  As someone above mentioned, the sound quality for an mp3 is outstanding.

nads20489

Very nice. I really like the atmosphere it creates, especially with the sound effects at 1:17 and 1:45, for example.

I wish I could switch my sleepwalks for yours. Mine are odd.

Wow, lots of comments :)

@ Uncloned : Thanks, it is a little tough defining this sort of genre... I was considering experimental. Nice to be compared with such legends. Thanks again.

@ BV: Thanks man, I'm trying to figure out where the bass pedal point is :P. Almost joyous is a nice way to describe it.

@ Sam Zen - Took me while to nail that part you like. Glad it's worth the while. Thanks!

@ Cubaxd: You hit the nail on the head ( or I did ). The game is a strategy puzzle game set in a world of dreams which the player is trying to break out.

@ Nahkranoth: Whew that's a tough question... I guess it's mostly experience, but after some thought: For preserving stereo image you can save .mp3s as 'Joint Stereo' or just 'Stereo'. Joint Stereo takes advantage of the intensity and similarities of the left and right channels and blends them for better size compression. I generally don't use 'Joint Stereo' in order to preserve the stereo image at the cost a of a little larger file size.

The other aspect for preserving highs and such, is getting to know your Vsts and where they are best suited. Every EQ/compressor/etc.. has a unique character and is suited better for some sounds than others.. this is simply experience. Good sounds also always make a difference. Most of the sounds in this song are from my analogue synth. The final note that I believe has the greatest impact is that I use compression/limiting very sparingly. As a result the piece has a lot more room to 'breathe'.

If you want to know more specifics, just ask away.

Thanks for the listen.

@ Mrvegas: Thanks for listening, always rocking!

@ nads20489 : Thanks man. Reminds me of how I was reading about a phenomena of people murdering in their sleep :) Crazy stuff!

Side note to everyone: Somnambulism isn't necessarily limited to sleepwalking. It's definition more so entails behaving in a wakeful manner whilst in a state of sleep.
