Hello Fellas

This is my first post, so please be kind. In fact I heard about openMPT last week......I learnt how to use it, and started making music with my own samples too.....

I have an assignment for which I have to create music for Nitendo DS Games in MOD format strictly.

My problem is as follows -
I created the MOD file with my own samples (Tried with all the configurations - 8 bit, 16 bit, various sample rates, etc)

But when it comes to implementing that file in DS Game, it does not play at all, or sometimes it will play very incoherently like in half speed, etc.....

There are some files I downloaded from internet, which play good in the NDS Game, but not my files....so I am clueless here ?
Where am I making a mistake ?

What could be wrong ? I am really getting worried about the project and the deadline may be coming near, so Please help me here....

Did you probably forget to set the module type to ProTracker (MOD)? Did you use more than four channels? Since you mentioned 16-bit samples, it's likely that you didn't, because the MOD format doesn't have 16-bit samples.

Thanks a lot jojo.....I actually tried everything....8 bit samples also.....I even selected the right MOD type....

But I will try it again.....will post the results soon.....Thanks for your help again.

Did you also set the speed and temp using the commands for that? (I don't know what they are in MOD format. I believe it was Fxx for both, but I have only used it like twice and it was years ago.

Actually, if you write MOD files, you are forced to change the tempo with those commands; there is no way to use default values (at least in OpenMPT 1.18+). So the tempo shouldn't change after saving a file and loading it again. And yes, it's F01-F20 and F21-FFF for speed/tempo changes.

Wow.....I didn't realize that you MUST set tempo.....I was using default and testing it on NDS.....This may be good news, I will set the tempo today and will check ! Thanks a lot LPChip and Jojo ! I am grateful !

You don't. If you don't specify a tempo, it defaults to 125bpm at speed 6. Somehow I feel that you are just doing something wrong here, so an example file that sounds wrong on the NDS would be very helpful.

There is a slight possibility that the NDS simply cannot handle the mod file and plays it slower because the software that plays the mod is buggy. This could happen with too large samples, although the MOD format is quite limited in that as well, but its a theory that could explain this.

If I play a very complex song on my Korg DS, it is slightly slower. I've heard this from other people as well.

There are very good MOD/XM players on the DS, so I doubt that the software is the problem here.
