I've just found this awesome and free tracker based program. It's dead simple to use, got built in sound synthesizers, and it works on many platforms, including pocket PC devices (smartphones).

The interface is smartly designed, every part of it is zoom-able/size-able and layered. That makes the handling on small mobile displays comfortable as possible, even with bare fingers:

Now i can compose melodies whenever i want, even on my phone, if i dont have a computer near by! I'm happy. xD

I use the korg Ds-10+ for that X)

But it looks like a nice synth.

Yep, i've seen your stuffs, but this lil piece of russian software works even on windows/linux, and also on basic smartphone operating systems, so you dont hafta buy/carry a Nintendo DS around, only your mobilephone. :D

edit: oh, and apparently it has a fully functional sample editor, so you can make old-school tracker based song structures as well:

(as far as i know, the Korg DS doesn't have a sampler functionality, only synthesis)

Nice.

Samples is a nice addition, but I do not miss them in my DS-10 :D

Yea, it wont replace advanced, fully featured desktop trackers (it is not even designed to be a professional DAW), but it will serve perfectly as a portable all-around tracker, on small(er) displays. It has a low overall processor load, so to keep that, they left out VSTs support. Not to speak about compatibility/memory consumption troubles. Not least, VST is a proprietary technology, and the two operating systems (afaik) that have the license for it are the desktop Windows versions, and the Mac OS.

the software would be heavily limited only to these platforms, if it would have VST support included.
