Hi everyone, this is a little 7 bar theme for 5 instruments.

I've been inspired by the saxophone soundfonts that uncloned have on his site (thanks a lot !). The other instruments comes from the free UVI player.
After one day working on this I'm a bit tired of it so I don't think I'm gonna change anything, but any comments are welcome.

Saga Musix

Great and laid-back. However, The rhythm feels a bit to regular for this kind of improvised jazz music IMO.

A bit of a unsatisfying end, but nevertheless, a good piece.
There are two different horns here, and my problem is,
that they sound like being played by the same person.
The phrasing, the choice of notes, the dosage of notes.

Quote from: "Sam_Zen"they sound like being played by the same person
which is correct, because it's technically true.
I'm as calm as a synth without a player.  (Sam_Zen)

Thanks for the comments.
Did it in one afternoon so yeah the two saxophones plays a bit same-ish (same phrases many times). And yes it's technically me playing my keyboard... :D
Many mistakes at the piano, and the drums are copy pasted a few times !
The unsatisfying end was supposed to be a fully fledged bridge but I simply gave up
It's not polished at all.

Indeed a nice and relaxing piece that sounds rather complex to me. But related to the ending I have to agree with Sam. I feels like that there is something...uhm...missing.

Nevertheless a quite enjoyable piece.

Not being a fan of saxes and pianos, I must say this was really worth a listen! :welldone:
Didn't even notice that the drums were copypasted, to me it was like a real drummer, or sampled loops at least. And the piano part somewhere in the second half of the tune is really great!
Again, well done Paul!

Notes as i'm listening

Not classical jazz -- no, more like 80s polished jazz, smooth but still full of texture. (Today's "jazz" is a sickening blend of water, sugar, and formula.) This piece, though light and uneventful, has "nice evening" written all over it. I want to grab my fattest most Cuban stogie, a half-glass of Burgundy, and sit and think about how, when you think about it, my life isn't all that bad...

POST: Yjana happened to be listening with me and HATED the drum sequences. I however thought it was nice that the drums weren't "butting in". :P Still, the song ends rather abruptly.

uncloned

wow - you did a great job with the soundfonts!!

Nice tune - very enjoyable.

Let aside my poor skills as a "keyboard drummer" I'm not a huge fan of drums as a loud and omnipresent rhythmic element in jazz. I like drummers like Bill Stewart or Leon Parker who can bring varied colors and insert intricate patterns seamlessly into the rhythmic structure.
