Here's the second song I've ever made, and first with Modplug tracker, I'd say it's pretty good!

Started it last morning, finished it last night!  :D
Sleep would be a good idea, to bad I have better things to do.

Enjoyed. Funny piece.
But it lacks any attention to the panorama of the instruments.

Heheh, if I knew what that meant I'd fix it. I'm a little lacking on terminology ect.

Well, it's not like Wikipedia doesn't exist...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panorama_%28disambiguation%29 -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panning_%28audio%29

But well... Without wanting to sound rude, I can only say that it's clearly audible that it's one of your first tracks.

Wikipedia, the answer to everything.

Ok yeah, set panning to the middle, and left it at that, but now I've added a bit a panning, I dunno what to make left and right, and what to leave in the center, just gonna have to play around a bit I guess.

Also, when people are rude, they often type somewhere in the message why they hated it, and then you know what to fix, right? As long as it's not just a long string of cussing. I'd rather have someone be rude and letting me know then being nice and keeping a secret. Of course being nice and helping is great too. <-What a corny paragraph.

Well, the rule is, as so often: Listen to other people's music. That also helps with finding out what nice panning sounds like. A very common rule for example is to always leave the bass drum in the middle. There's actually a reason behind this, because the human ear can't really locate bass frequencies in 3d space, so it's a good advice to save audio bandwidth by just positioning it in the center. And it also sounds much better than other positions of course.

I was nice, but if you see that as rude, so be it. But if someone wears two different socks, I will mention it anyway.

Panorama means 'spreading' the instruments, like in realtime with a band on a stage.
It would be silly if all players and singers would be sitting on the drumkit during the concert.
Even a drumkit on its own has the hihat a bit to the left, the cymbal a bit to the right, and the kick in the center.

It's not a matter of 'fixing' some mistake. It's a matter of paying attention to this element, as part of composing.
A sloppy production will distract your audience from what you want : listening to the content of your work.

Alright, thanks, I think I get the concept now, the rest will just have to come with experience.

Also, no I wasn't saying either of you where being rude, I was just saying I don't mind if someone is to be rude, as long as it gets their point across, cause Jojo said [/quote]But well... Without wanting to sound rude, I can only say that it's clearly audible that it's one of your first tracks.

and - it is way too easy to fall in love with your own work and hard to imagine what it sounds like in the ears of other people.

it is a danger of what we do here.
