A portamento effect?

Wondering how this effect was done, a portamento kinda like effect used here. About from where clip starts till the beat begins.

That appears to be two very slow portamentos in opposite directions (kinda like in the TFX jingle).

yap, those are two sounds, modulated completely separated (one in the foreground, and the second in the background, seems very muddy with added reverb).
If you have wondered about the portamento changes, well you know the way to change these stuff =), press another note and it will slowly glide to higher or lower one.

To answer your question, mostly abstract images and abstract soundings, and some percentage is indeed reserved, for wondering about the female species.

well, i think you already got a good explanation. portamento is a prgressing detuning effect of course, as the sounds "split" as time goes on in your clip, one would rather speak of a light portamento than of detuning here, I guess. But that acutally doesn't matter.
