Flowers - part two - 2:10 - of four parts.

Actually eight, because each track has been digitized from the tape reel in two different speeds, 38 cm and 19 cm.
With pieces like this, one can vary the playbackspeed in a wide range, and it will still sound ok.

Done with the Synthi AKS in heavy conjunction with the first Harmonizer by Eventide. 1980. Digital in 2001.
The flanging is not an added app, but is a side-effect of the feedback in the process itself.

Heh - this is the same part of the field Ice9 has been planting in - except you did it in 1980

So... this is a recording of the synthi output to harmonizer back to synthi?

A very interesting texture - the effect of the harmonizer is hard to pick out in most of it - but seems to be apparent in the high notes.... I think.  :)

The high notes indeed. But I agree, this piece gets quite complicated, so not typical harmonizer sounds.
As far as I can recall, part of the H. was via the synth fed back to its input.

A harmonizer can transfer the input to a higher or lower frequency in realtime.
If the pot is at zero, output is the same as input, if pot positive, output is higher, etc.
When feedback is taking place, this higher output goes through the H. again, so will be another step higher..
This process has a slight delay of course, so the feedback result will be either steps getting upwards, or getting lower and lower.
Another interesting aspect of this construction was, that the H. had an input for voltage control of the main pot.
So this was connected to an oscillator output of the synth as well.

Now here's Flowers - part three - 4:27.
