That's exactly what I thought. At first I was thinking it's gonna be boring, but somehow it's the kind of song that sat good in background.
I'd make the rhythm more effected and not so sharp, maybe added a couple of breaks between some patterns, because it sounds quite raw. Maybe some light reverb and automated formant filter? You've gotta a whole lot of options here :D
Anyway, with just a bit more work it could be really the kind of music to relax to. :gjob:

Notes as i'm listening:

Nice rhythmic structure, decent chord changes, but the lead motif in the first half needs to be pushed back (towards the background), and perhaps given a little FX (maybe reverb or delay). IMO its space is too intrusive, and takes up too much of the listener's attention. The tone (waveform) is OK, but might i suggest variations on the original theme as you go thru each pass. In the 2nd section the 2nd lead does not help the continuing melody. This is a fine example of poor voice-leading; either use the 2nd synth as accompaniment and put it under the main melody, or give its own voice (which it seems like you were trying to do) and give it a distinctive but complementary line. A little work (and maybe study) can make this better chillout music.

well I did do some more work on the song so I might as well post the updated version of it.

Notes as i'm listening:

A more interesting intro and song design. Levels are good, stereo space is decent, but i'm telling you that recurring melody has got to be pushed back or given some character. There's nothing wrong with it's simplicity, but over and over it becomes boring. You can make it intentionally sleepy, which is fine, but it's too loud for that. When using simple melodies, develop them later in your song by applying some syncopation, embellishments, or letting other instruments play the melody. I like repetition but only if it resolves itself to something interesting.

While i don't claim to be a connoisseur of fine chillout, the oversimplicity of this track makes it sound amateurish. Soak up evrything you can on music theory -- i promise you, you'll be making far better music!
