Notes as i'm listening:

Lumma Cryptic

Good melody, tuning is not horrible, but in a couple of spots becomes noticeable and therefore distracting. There is a Stravinskian treatment of the basso throughout, as if some great beast thought of itself as a sweet little sparrow. The design of the song is somewhat spartan but there seems to be an idea trying to be expressed. I can't help thinking of Xerxes, or some other great ancient authority who had as much influence and force, but whose darkness ultimately was defeated by light (can't that be said of any historic ruler?). Keeping in my Orchestral rotation.
