The symphony in my head sounds like this during certain lucid moments.


Intended for the collaborative ambient project - I see I am 2 months too early.

This is a collection of Paul extreme stretched pieces edited and mixed down in Audition. One of the pieces was a recording of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra warming up before the performance I saw. Another interesting facet of this piece is that for each stereo track one channel was reversed so effectively there are 8 separate binaural tracks.

man that is some nice dark ambient there. love it. If the wolfenstien 3d mod I'm doing the soundtrack for ever gets finished, I think you'll love the music I'm making for it.

but as Sam knows, relatively trivial, though I did put some work into this particular piece - about 30 mins.

If you grab Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch (for free) you can make almost anything sound like this. :-)

Yeppo. This tool can make an obvious 'ambient' piece out of nearly nothing, and with high sound quality.
So it's rather easy to score with something impressive in a jiffy.

But this just means that it requires a higher level of skill to distinguish one's own work from the obvious.
Reversing channels is a nice trick here, because each sound is 'predicted' in the result having a slow attack.

Very nice. I downloaded and put it into CAP/Clones on my computer.

Having listened to this, I now see the limitations of the tool, though. It is too straightforward, if you know what I mean. You feel that it is artificially slowed down, that the composer did not lay down those sounds himself.
