It's a decent piece, but you call it jazz, which makes it extra difficult for me.
I tend to be more critical than with other genres.

I listen to several musicians who know very well what the others are doing.
At the same time I can't find any interaction between them.

ok - this is a good point. Harder to do on your own? Not sure.
I guess if one did a serial improvisation

drums + guitar
bass
sax
go back and redo guitar
and redo the other parts to try to capture more realness?

Sam_Zen

Something like that.
It seemed like every instrument was doing its thing according to its own score.

well - I really just winged it. It came out ok.

But your point is an interesting one I had not thought of before - but it is so correct - and natural when playing live.

Sam, do you know of George Russell?

I wish the book was not $125!!

it sounds interesting - it claims to be the *only* theory to come out of Jazz.

Sam_Zen

I followed the jazz history so I know of George Russell. I think he indeed wrote his theory down on paper.

Another interesting figure in this respect is Ornette Coleman.
Specific ideas about harmonics etc.

And there have been a lot of unwritten theories coming out of jazz as well.. Just realized in sound.

kit beats

i love the 0:15 till 0:24 part, that guitar stuff..cool!
"get the piece sounding pristine." - KrazyKats
..Like this one, definatly got the Sam Zen
individuality in it... - Asharin

Paul Legovitch

I like the song very much, it reminds me of the jazz of the early nineties (John Scofield Quartet, ...)
Maybe the drums lack a bit of groove but it's kind of interesting. Strangely at the end, the saxophone is not as melodic as before, I'd say the last 9 notes could have been better or cut. Jazz is great. 8)

It's more like jazz history followed you Miles...    (Seriously Sam, you do bare a slight ressemblance to Miles Davis)
Speaking of Russel, did you know that he made a big band orchestration of Miles Davis' solo from So What (Kind of Blue) ? Very interesting music.
