I just finished a new song! It is 59,920 patterns (a little more than 5 days) long and 1.04 GB in size.

are you competing with the Wagnerian ring cycle?

ZOMG!!! Man, you know that you're really weird person? :D Give us a link! Those with dialup connection will be pleased for sure!

no wai.

..that is somewhat reasonable with very big samples.

Too much "no wai", it seems totally incredible, i'm skeptical unless download link provided. ^^

Any duplicates ?  :)

If you are thinking of multiple patterns with the same number, there are none of those. It is straight 1 - 59,920. A screenshot of the song is below. I tried to capture it on row 33, but missed and captured it on row 34!

excellent accomplishment - but what do you have to say musically that takes as a long as an Entmoot? :p

I just curious - most people are thrilled to have ten minutes of music produced. I don't want to sound like I'm knocking you - it is just such an unusual goal.

well, the linked picture seems quite an empty one musically :D.
To be honest i'm not even able to imagine any sound complex that last literally for 5 days.

Do you care to give us any additional info RWP, like the style, what you've wanted to do with this song, etc etc?
If i got this right, you haven't planned to share the piece with us at all.

edit: some stuff that i can decrypt from the screenshot
- the row length is 64. Now, that could b extended to 1024 and you could save quite some patterns. :D
- You must have used samples (and not vsti), because the vu meters are actually displaying information.
- only 8 channels? :o is that really enough?
- tempo 125, ticks/row 6, rows/beat 4, those seems pretty default to me.
- that blue-ish theme of yours must b a heck of an eye killer after some more hour of intensive composing work. :D
- four channels hard panned left and four right, aye? :)

How about just STOPPING playback? :P

It just looks like one of those "megasample" modules... And the colours are just ARGH! :P

I have some sad news:  I deleted the song because I could not get it to open on my computer. I tried it on another computer, but it would still not open. Here is something interesting. Modplug Player opened it just fine. I do have a copy on a different computer. Does anyone know if, perhaps, Modplug Tracker does not open files that are 1 GB (or in the song's case, 1.04 GB) in size? As for info,  Psishock is right about the info that he gathered from the screenshot. The song was a combination of two suites. Here is how it went down. Take the song from Rayman and put them in the form of a suite (coming up with 428 patterns). Take the songs from Chex Quest 1 and 2 and put them into a suite (rembering to include an intro and victory song for each game as well as an intermission between levels) (coming up with 560 patterns). Combine the two by finding the LCM of 428 and 560 (59,920) and going to town for a few days. OK, so, perhaps I overdid that a tad bit, sorry. As for sending a copy, I did make a RAR archive, but even that was 6something MB in size. As for a goal, I actually had two.
Goal 1:  I was looking for length.
Goal 2:  I was looking for a song that would be an actual song (as opposed to a simple length test) that broke the 10,000 pattern mark. I found it. Judging by the size of that one though, I am not sure if I would want to break the 65,000 pattern mark.
As for the colors, they are inspired by the colors of a certain someone. You can probably guess who that "someone" might be even.*
It would appear that Modplug Tracker can indeed open a 1.04 GB file, however, I think that, perhaps, the last one got corrupted somehow. BTW, I am redoing it! I just finished the long song again. The interesting part is that I received the "Out of memory" error that I had received before. Therefore, I did not close the song. It is still open and playing. I believe that I was mistaken on the length last time as well. It is actually a little bit more than 7 ½ days long! Its literal length is 10,876.41667 minutes or 7.553067131944444 days!
* If you took a guess in your head and guessed Daisy, you must have some mad guessing skills because that is exactly right! Or as she might put it, "That's right." (The that I have no idea what is though, as is the case with "it" ("Got it").)
That is interesting. I just finished making the 1.04 GB file again, but it is only 18,447 patterns long instead of 59,920. I tried opening a second instance of it and it worked! It took, perhaps, 2 or 3 minutes, but it opened! Here is a catch, some of the samples were missing!

Really Weird Person

I just finished another long song! Below is a screenshot of it [as well as the time conversion (a feature of Windows 7's Calculator. I intentially captured the length dialog so that there would be no questioning whether it is long or not! Its pattern length is 146 * 559, or 81,614 patterns! That is so long that I had to split into groups of 16! There are 5,100 of those and 896 rows for the 5,101st pattern (hence why I find it odd that the time duration is not longer than the combination of the Chex Quest and Rayman suites)! My thought is that, perhaps the length is partially determined by the length of the individual instruments themselves. If that is the case, then the length difference would make sence. The Laboratory sample is 7 minutes and 36 seconds long, the Band Land sample is 5 minutes and 18 seconds long, and the Narrator recordings range from 1 to 3 seconds.

Three days of "recording" a midi music random enough composition sequence is what this reminds me of ., back then it must of been the end of last century, spring 99 I recorded "in real time" on vhs tape ., and still have a few of the tapes left,, a three day song., into like twelve six hour videos while almost burning out the IBM computer doing the midi performance and frying the mac AV 660 quadra producing the visual reactions to the midi musics on the tapes dag ., these days if I think of it I will put one of those ole tapes on and go out to the synthesizer  and alter the blips and blops even more whilest I record it for a second take...  >>I am looking forward to this modplug scene thing since as you say Mr Person the program can handle multiple days of composition ,,, kewl > cool > qua-latte ...

so mmm Why has it been hidden for so long from me?
