I composed this for the "Time signature competition" that got canceled. It includes stuff like 6/8; 7/8; 13/8 and some lovely articulations.

Adhering to the rules of the competition, I would like to mention that this piece is composed exclusively in MODPLUG TRACKER. It has no VST instruments and no plugins. I would have uploaded in .IT format but it was 140mb after cleanup, so I converted it to ogg.

I'd like to present it as an indication of the power of Modplug Tracker. There are those who are choosing to abandon Modplug in search of other sequencers. You would be advised to recognize the power of this beautiful piece of software.

I will present the mixed / mastered version at a later date.

And unto all ye: Captain Drecks Splendid sea adventure awaits!

Great work, KrazyKatz ! You should have won the contest with this piece.
I wondered : How come 140 Mb ? Did you use 32-bits samples overall ?
And you've got a point about this leaving OMPT for using other sequencers. Is it 'more professional' to use tools with a lot of easy presets, or a virtual 19 inch rack ?

Statements like that are what keeps me off of drugs.

Well almost, I was really tired. ;)

Anyway, very nice piratey song with a nice little twist of Zelda.

First off I did not use 32 bit samples. All 16 bit.

Secondly I wrote every note. I did not use multi-samples nor loops. For example I did not use an "orchestral hit"  instrument, I manually orchestrated how the hit would sound by putting in each instrument for it. As a result I used a lot of instruments.
Heres my Instrument list:

Flute
Flute Vibrato
Clarinet
Bassoon

Tuba staccato f
Tuba
Bass Trombone Staccato
Bass Trombone f
French Horns mf
French horns f

Violins Arco
Violins Spizzicato
Violins Marcato Upstroke
Violins Marcato Downstroke
Violins f
Violins mf

Celli Marcato mf
Celli Marcato f
Celli Arco
Celli mf

Contrabasses Marcato f
Contrabasses Marcato mf
Contrabasses f
Contrabasses p

Choir Male
Choir Female
Choir Staccato

I wont even begin with the amount of Percussion...

By the way the un-cleaned up piece was 325mb.

In my opinion, a true composer is one who creates what he wants as opposed to playing around with presets and "accepting" a sound. Hence the word "Compose"..

Modplug Rules.

Never heard Zelda music, reckon I should look into it?

Cheers and Thanks

I understand the size now, seeing this being only a part of your list..

Nice. A strict modular approach, meaning optimum control.

So true. I only 'accept' an incoming sound as being 'raw material'.

In this mix i hear really nice instruments & notes flowing.

I really like the upcoming sound parts that starts on 1:00, and then again 2:00! that sample, the bass trombone i like most! (1:43)
