Maybe use more up to date software that is still developed/supported? Hmmm I wonder where you might find said software? nope, can't think.

Couple of problem areas...

First I cannot get a BTI instrument that is saved to reload anything once brought back in, no curves or settings or samples come back in... The BTI is usually a 11-13kb file but does diddly I have tried all kinda things but nothing works...

Probably not 'seeing' something...

The other - My 2009 version works fine as shows scrolling 'arrow ticks' in the menus on the module grid allowing scrolling off-screen menus back on... Trying later versions like 2013 & the latest 2015 I cannot scroll diddly, no ticks are there no matter what theme is used there is no 'clicking where they should be' that works...

I was thinking maybe it's because I am using XP but maybe not..

I don't care much about the last problem because my 2009 version works fine in that respect but is not available anywhere it seems the old versions are overwritten with newer ones... Was just curious if anybody else had similar issue...

eMails to Mr Rosseaux been going unanswered, BeRoTracker has no help file, text, changelog that comes with, nothing

I think it might be possible to amend the resampling dialog with an option specifically for MOD files to update pattern notes based on the resampling ratio, just like it's already possible to automatically adjust offset commands.

QuoteOr... is there another option to Transpose all notes by a instrument number for all patterns?

OpenMPT's Find and Replace functionality is rather powerful and exactly suited for this task. On the "Find" page, set the sample number to find, and then in the "Replace" tab chose the required transposition amount.

There's always rooms for improvement, though in this particular case I have difficulties finding any obvious and easy things that could be implemented right away... Whenever OpenMPT loads a sample or instrument, its properties are immediately converted to the target module format, so the information about the original sample rate is not available anymore after the sample has been loaded into a MOD file for instance. In general this is necessary because we don't want to give the impression that some feature is available and then after saving a file it's suddenly gone. But I'm always open for direct suggestions and see what can be done.

One thing that may be helpful is that sample rate conversion can be done in a batch by shift-clicking the resampling icon. That way the resampling is applied to all loaded samples and doesn't have to be done one by one.

Help and Questions / Resampling samples to new freq...
Last post by Magnar - October 21, 2024, 10:56:07
Hi,

If the song is already created, but samples was loaded with an IT-format but later saved to PT format, there case now is that several samples in the song patterns are using notes above B-6. Which makes them above supported in PT2 format. The was probably because sample-frequencies went out of bound of Amiga compability when first loaded.

If I use the resample (CTRL+R) feature on the samples that plays notes above B-6, I can downsample so that the samples works within correct notes of C-4 to B-6.

However, when doing this, is there a possibility to rearrange also all notes used by the sample to the new downsampled frequency? So for example, if the note was earlier played A-7, I downsample it and wants it to play A-6 instead. Is there a way to either make that automatic change when you resample throughout the whole module and all its patterns?

Or... is there another option to Transpose all notes by a instrument number for all patterns?

Cheers Magnar

Hi Saga Musix,

Long time and great to see you are still so active!

I was hoping there was some sort of easier conversion-option for the musician on beginners level to create Amiga Modules, that are not that familiar with calculating or figure out frequencies and convert the samples manually the way you described.

I do understand this is a feature not currently available, but would it be possible in future development to maybe automate this process? In such a way that the musician only have to load a WAV file and type in a root note of PT2.3D C-3 and it converts per default to it?

Reason is that I am trying to teach how to make Amiga modules out to new people, and the process of handling samples they exports from their DAWs are very hard entry-curve for many of them to convert and make it work in a PT module format.

It would greatly increase the interest of making Amiga Modules for the musicians I am currently working with. :)

Generally in all formats but MOD, middle-C (C-5) will play the sample at the original sample rate (so 48000Hz in your example). With MOD that's not possible of course - middle-C will always be around 8287Hz (+/- finetune), and you won't be able to reach the original root note of the sample as it's way out of the Amiga frequency range.

My recommendation for preparing Amiga samples would be to have a separate module open in IT or MPTM format, load the sample there and use the built-in resampler to change the sample rate to a known compatible sample rate (e.g. 22168Hz for F-6 which is F-3 in ProTracker) and then copy the resampled sample over to the MOD file.
If you want to resample to note other than F-6, you can play a sample in the MOD file and look at the status bar in the sample editor: It will show you the effective sample rate of that note. Then you take that value and use it as the target frequency for the resampler.

QuoteIf you load too long samples, are they automatically assigned to another key?
I'm not sure what you mean with this one. If the sample length exceeds the maximum supported by the MOD format, it will get truncated upon saving, so if you want to use the entire sample, you will have to manually slice it, unfortunately.

Hi Magnar, long time no see :) The command you're looking for is called "Clear field and step", right now DEL is most likely bound to "Clear field" instead. The "IT Style" variations of those two commands also delete the instrument number when deleting a note.

Hi
When I press the DEL key to delete a note, the cursor stays on same position in the pattern after pressed. Is there a way to make it progress?

I have set "Edit step: 1", and if I enter a respective note-key instead of DEL-key, the cursor do proceed to next line in the pattern sheet.

Anyone know how to make the DEL-key behave as the value setting in the Edit step?
