Title: Anyone know how to record keyboard inputs *and* continue to create new Patterns?
Post by: delete12345 on December 18, 2021, 19:45:59
Title really doesn't do justice, due to the max thread title length.

What I'm trying to do in OpenMPT is, in chronological order:

The Step 3 is what I wanted to do in OpenMPT. I'm trying to figure out how to keep recording MIDI keyboard signals to the subsequent pattern after the end of the current pattern has been reached.

Anyone knows how to do this?

If it's not a feature in OpenMPT, I'll go ahead and put in a feature request in the issue tracker. Thanks.

There is a feature request for that already: https://bugs.openmpt.org/view.php?id=480

For now you could record your song from your keyboard using a simple Midi sequencer like Sekaiju https://openmidiproject.osdn.jp/Sekaiju_en.html (https://openmidiproject.osdn.jp/Sekaiju_en.html) , Midieditor https://www.midieditor.org/ (https://www.midieditor.org/) or if you want to use something fancier there is Cakewalk by Bandlab https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk (https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk) and it is completely free Professional software, then after you record your midi you just have to import your recorded midi file into OpenMPT.

I tend to make a 1024 length pattern and copy/cut and paste from there moving it into separate patterns manually or make a whole bunch of blank patterns / click track patterns... There are ways to get the results I guess. I admit I havent done this in a while.
