apparently this is new - after 30 years of 2D fractals - now 3D.
Beatiful and stunning.
This is very nice indeed.
But in fact already the DOS app Fractint had a way to render 3D fractal images.
Still poor quality though, but nevertheless. An example :

On a 33MHz machine this took some hours to make..
There are some pretty nice fractals among them. cool!
