What is the difference between double bow action and a single bow action on strings? :?:

not entirely sure what you are referring to by 'double bow action'? are you talking about double stops where one plays two notes at once? or how a note can be bowed up or down?
I would guess that double bow action has both up and down strokes, while single bow action only goes one way. Are you asking about some plug in?
I have a strings sample library that states that most of the samples are recorded with double bow action. I assume they mean that half the ensemble slide on the upstroke and half on the downstroke at the same time for a fuller effect. Not sure though.

definitely not, a section is always in synch when it starts a note, only when the note is very long (longer than is playable on one bowstroke) do the individual players start purposfully going out of synch with the bowing (that way it sounds smooth and you dont hear the individual bow direction changes).
are there two recordings of each note in this library? if so, then it sounds like this would be an up bow and a down bow sample, which would help repeted notes sound better - not so mechanical.
