i see that some modules have only a few channels in them while the rest are removed, not muted. how do i do that?

Through the Song Properties (https://wiki.openmpt.org/Manual:_Song_Properties), Channel header context menu (https://wiki.openmpt.org/Manual:_Patterns#Channel_Header_Context_Menu) or automatically during Song Cleanup (https://wiki.openmpt.org/Manual:_Cleanup_Manager).
