Free Music Downloads / [Dark House] Toxic Shock (mptm...
Last post by Magmania - Yesterday at 18:59:18
Hello everyone! First time posting here even though I've been making music with OpenMPT for over two years by now. Like much of my music, the genre of this one is hard for me to categorize. It's a tense and brooding track with a twisted and chopped up kind of house beat underneath everything. I'm note sure if it has enough looping to be considered true "house" but it's the closest genre I can think of right now. If anyone knows a better genre for this track, do let me know.

The upright bass sections in this track were inspired by the theme for Ripple Star on the Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards soundtrack.

Here is the mptm. In the comments of the module I have written down exactly where I got each sample from for those interested.

Here's the Newgrounds audio if you want to listen without downloading the module or want to download the mp3. You can also find the YouTube upload of this track here, all my music gets posted to my channel before anywhere else.

I look forward to sharing more of my OpenMPT modules here. I've made a significant amount of tracks with it, including a full album consisting of DnB and House music. I don't want to share modules without including a list of the origins for each sample, so it'll be more work to share here than other places.

Note: There were some issues with loading and saving plugin data under some circumstances. These are corrected in OpenMPT 1.32.00.35, but as a consequence the global dump data of files created with OpenMPT 1.32.00.34 will not be restored correctly. If you already started playing around with the feature, I suggest to keep a copy of OPenMPT 1.32.00.34 before upgrading, open the file there, and copy over the initial dump data (and erase the dummy text now showing up in macro 0).

Some more changes:

  • Plugin parameters 0-99 are now also available for automation.
  • There is now a new output device in the device list: Internal OpenMPT Output. With this, it is possible to route the new MIDI macro mechanism (and the new initial MIDI dump) to other plugins as well.

An update on this... while the original MIDI macros continue to function as always, the MIDI I/O plugin has been upgraded: There is now an option to send an initial raw MIDI dump (either only the first time playback is started, or every time), and the plugin now also features its own set of MIDI macros: Plugin parameters 100-900 can be assigned to custom MIDI macros, following the same format as the already-known macros, but with no length limitations. They can then be triggered using PC events. This should help both with the small number of global MIDI macros, and their short length.

I'm a little confused how you're supposed to contribute code.
I just wanted to fix something small so I downloaded the repo, made a branch and fixed it. But when I try to commit it wants a password which I don't have. And I don't know what I would need to do after that, what's the svn equivalent of a pr?
