I never got around to uploading this in time for the OVC or Mimic compo:
http://whatthebert.com/ihameed/boomtss/xaimus-incoherentcrap.ogg
It's loosely inspired by the RahXephon OST.
I like it :)
Did you record yourself playing? I don`t remember you saying anything about playing the piano..
This indeed sounds like a recording of a realtime-play on a piano. So the original is definetely not tracker-based.
I don't mind having such in the download category though, because lots of trackers use other tools as well for their composing, including myself.
But it would be appropriate if posters would mention, in some title-tag or in the content of the post, whether the material is tracker-based or not. A judgement of a piece is asked for, so the proper information should be with it.
It makes a big difference, if these sounds were made while improvising on a piano, trackered with ModPlug, made with Reason, or while playing on an analog Moog.
In this case, the replacement of 'Wankery' by 'Recording' would be sufficient. :)
Thanks for the comments. :D I promise I'll return them once I get a decent internet connection.
This was made with Modplug Tracker, sfz, and a soundfont that eats half of my RAM. I've been trying to teach myself to play the piano, but haven't gotten too far. I'm "stuck" with the violin. :)
I could upload the source IT file (over the span of several days), if it's wanted.
I'm amazed.
what soundfont did you use? im always on the lookout for good piano sample sets, and i have tried many. multi-layer soundfonts are certainly the way to go tho, i used one on my entry for the mimic compo and it sounds amazing.
id love to take a look at the source .it, without the soundfont it should be rather small, no?
ive not seen anyone else that puts the same amount of detail into tracker piano solos as i do before.
The soundfont's filename on my machine is "ClavinovaPiano1_V2.0_HugeVersion.sf2". I downloaded it from:
http://www.guraydere.com/soundfonts/sfdetails.aspx?kat=1
You'll want to download "Clavinova Piano 1 V2.0". I used sfz (http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfz.htm) to load and play the SoundFont in MPT.
The source IT is at:
http://whatthebert.com/ihameed/boomtss/xaimus-incoherentcrap.it.bz2
Without the soundfont, it is indeed pretty small. :D
Incoherent Crap. Incoherent? Perhaps. Crap? Not at all. Also, intentional incoherence may be good. Great sound, great 'playing' (composition). Think I got to find more by you.
