This song was made using only the sounds that comes with Windows XP (which includes the Win95 sounds).

EDIT: before I made this song, I did some experimenting. That made me come to this try: Windowed Experiment (http://files.lpchip.nl/lpchip/Windowed%20Experiment.wav.mp3)
It's a nice song, but what else could be expected?
Very pleasant atmosphere.
Nice that you made a tube too of it.
How did you made the video capture ?

I've bought Camtasia Studio5 and used it to screencapture it to an avi video.
Its a bit expensive, but certainly worth its money.
sounds a bit like xerxes! ;)
Definitely the most musical production using windows sounds. An exceptionally artistic approach on creation within the limitations.
And to be simple spoken, its a beautiful piece.
Great work!
This is a WoW!
Can I make an ambient remix of this tune?

Thats no problem :P
I've also posted this on The Nifflas Support forum, and I've been awarded with The Niff Award (for the best homemade creation of March) :D

I like it. It's relaxing. Also the "experiment". Even this ugly Warning sound of Windows, which mostly means "Bad news", sounds good in this tune
Well done
Oops! I downloaded and listened to this track ages ago, and never got around to commenting. :( Sorry!
OK...
- Wow, you have an interesting colour scheme for mpt... :P WAY different from mine. :)
- Well, you've certainly manipulated some of those samples - a lot of them sound a lot better now. :) I particularly like the one you use at the start. And your use of the piano is exceptional.
- Calm, relaxing, easy to listen to...
- Is it just me (that is, am I making a mistake!), or is it pentatonic?
- Overall - good stuff. :)
love it lp. very chillaxing :)
on a side note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsU3B0W3TMs&feature=related
was placed on BBC Radio 1 on thursday. But no shoutout for Modplug! :(
(I prefers yours to that btw lp)

Sorry for my late response. I kind of missed the replies XD
2 Cubaxd:
Thanks :) Yeah, I agree. These error sounds don't really sound like errors :D
2 Barry:
I so love my coloursheme. Since I changed it, it became easier to make music, because I feel much more comfortable with these colours.
I had to google for pentatonic to see what you mean XD. I'm not certain myself about this, but if it is, it was not done intentionally.
I actually didn't do much manipluation on the notes. I only did some trimming and looping, no EQ was applied to it. But proper mixing does alot for your sound, although I have a slight urge to turn down the volume of the flute. :) I did add echo and reverb, but that only makes the sound a bit warmer.
But thanks for your feedback :) Much appreciated.
2 aGp: Thanks :)
Huh, that other song was on radio 1? heh! I wish they would indeed promote modplug but oh well. I also agree that mine is better, but then again, I got challenged to do it better XD)
I heard another track where someone had done this a while back, but I think I like this one better. It's amazing to me what people get out of the windows sounds.
Anyway, the track itself sounds very smooth. I really liked it.
Thanks. :)
Well, I know I'm late here, but I can't help myself to react even two years after the last post...
That tune is so nice, so the Windows sound even does not deserve to be used in it. Especially the drums. They are relatively bad in comparison with the rest (of course, they are good in respect to the stuff you decided to work with). And although I do not have the source MOD ;-) I did a little experiment with it and mixed part of the tune with a drum sequence (from 13th second) that immediately came to my mind when I was listening to your song for the first time (drums played by real human, ripped from one local album, time-expanded to fit the loop). The experiment can be listened here: http://music.wrapuch.net/mp3/Windowed_Experience_drum_modification_sample.mp3
I especially miss there the light drum roll with snare, that is main point of my post. The sample is far from perfect, I didn't correctly aligned the drums, nor set the volume, etc, it is just about the concept.
I apologize for bastardizing your great work, but I really can't help myself. If you wish you may delete this post :).
I see what you mean with the drums.
I basically went for a complete different style which also makes it that I started the drums later. I wanted to give this kick when the whole thing starts. It gives some kind of adrenaline rush when the piece gets past the intro.
I have the feeling that starting with the drums prematurely will spoil this aspect that is otherwise achieved.
As for playing with my song this way, I really don't mind until you make a full recording and then claim it to be your own. Doing this kind of experiments is a great way to learn, and as fellow musician, everyone should play to learn, right?
It was not really my intention to put those drums right there as it is in the example. I just wanted the drums to be more clear, so I put them in this part where there music is still not "evolved" enough and therefore did not override the drums.

That's not my cup of tea ;) (at least I hope so).
Its very neat LPchip! Good work :]
