Title: Awesome Music Videos
Post by: LPChip on January 21, 2007, 20:15:38
Many of us probably sees a nice video on youtube or somewhere else that you want to share.

This is the topic for that. You are allowed to share video's that are about you, but whatever you post, it MUST be music related! :) With the link, give a small description of what the video is all about, and give the music style too.

I'll start with an awesome song by Erik Mongrain, who is a very good guitar player.

LINK: http://youtube.com/watch?v=aDGXs3wuaPQ&mode=related&search=
DESCRIPTION:
This guy is just awesome with a guitar. Song title: Fusions and the style is somewhere between pop and lounge I guess. What makes this guy so awesome is that he only need a guitar to get sound that looks like its being played by an entire orchestra. Listen and you'll see what I mean. Even percussions! :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXU7I_Yyi2Y
rachmaninoff's prelude in g minor, op 23 no. 5
i absolutely LOVE rachmaninoff's harmonies and emotion in the songs.
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpmpDoCBrxY
liszt's funerailles
you havnt seen piano playing until you have seen a liszt song played live :)
especially when she starts with those octaves at 7 minutes in, yow!

Another one I came across...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-vocEYP0NsI&mode=related&search=
This guy has what is being called: a harp guitar, and he plays it wonderfully!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=FO12Wz0ycUU&mode=related&search=
And another guitar play. This time on an electric guitar. This guy however is very good. His song has many different parts and is well constructed, worth checking out.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=UiFTljSuleY
And another guitar play. This song is in style Rock (not like the upper two) but damn, this guy is good with his guitar. I loved every minute of it!

Bloody hell (Why do I keep saying that?)! You forgot Zack Kim!

Video:

This guy is amazing. He's basically developed his own method of playing the, well, two guitars called "touch style". Amazing.

Here's a few of me favorites:

What are the conditions for the file to upload, like file-format, resolution, etc. ? I have no idea. I noticed a default screensize of 425 x 350 at Youtube for example.

What are the conditions for the file to upload, like file-format, resolution, etc. ? I have no idea. I noticed a default screensize of 425 x 350 at Youtube for example.

Here's some relevant info:

What are the limitations on size for uploaded content?

We do have limits on the size of the video that can be uploaded due to the vagrancies of the internet and transferring files via HTTP. Videos should be kept under 10 minutes and 100 MB. Longer uploads increase the chance for corruption.

What File Formats are supported?

Pretty much everything with the exception of Real. 3GP (Cell Phone video) has been problematic for our encoders as well and sometimes causes a video with only audio.

Why do you change my file format?

We standardize on Windows Media and Flash8, but even then there are thousands of file formats. When you also add in different operating systems, browser settings, security levels, bandwidth needs, etc you begin to see why we move everything onto a standardized format. By doing this we insure that if a viewer configures their browser to watch MoodVees videos they can see them all with the same frame rate and level of quality and consistency.

What format do you play in?

Our videos are Windows Media and Flash 8 with the On2 codec. Our Flash Videos are recorded at 300Kbps and our Windows Media Files are dual encoded at 400Kbps and 200Kbps with the Windows Media 9 compression.

Who owns Videos uploaded to MoodVees?

Ownership of the video's Copyright is not transferred and remains with the creator of the content.

Users submit videos in any of dozens of different formats from MPEG1/2/4, Divx, 3ivx, Windows Media 7/8/9, Quicktime, Fraps, On2 VP3-7. These videos are at varying bit rates up to 10 Mbps. The vast majority of these videos are not in a format that can readily be streamed and must be converted to a common format to ensure a good experience for the user.

MoodVees has standardized on Windows Media 9 at 225 and 400kbps, which is auto selected based on the user's available bandwidth. Additionally offer Flash 8 based on On2's VP6 codec at 528kbps. Users will be able to toggle between the player of their choice.

The default screen resolution for MoodVees appears to be the same as YouTube - 428 x 351, with the controls included.

Hope this helps.

I did forgot about this topic, so just lately I placed some tubes in another thread about fav music.
I will copy them here :
Billy Cobham - Stratus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ae3l12PM2c
Joe Zawinul,Trilok Gurtu Orient Express Part1 http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=922LumI2ilo
BLØF - Een Manier Om Thuis Te Komen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YBZ6VqDDIk
Herbie Hancock - Rockit http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=S7dAxvj2mlU
Isao Tomita - Gardens in the rain by Debussy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y8KyRKvFx8
King Crimson - In the court of the crimson king http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHkisNZH77Y

I checked the archive on my own server and found some :
http://www.samshuijzen.nl/sam/forum/tracks/aina_beast.flv
http://www.samshuijzen.nl/sam/forum/tracks/jim_rosenb.flv
If one has trouble playing the .FLV format, the player MPUI can be found here (http://www.louigiverona.com/webarchive/samzen/download/MPUI.7z).
(It also handles .RM and .MOV format without needing further drivers or plugins)

This is a recent home-made recording, with a very crappy quality, of the so-called "Euler's disk".
http://www.samshuijzen.nl/sam/forum/column08/01/eulersb.mpg

And three old productions of my band "NulA", made by Richard Davies, one of the other musicians.
There are, among other electronics, two EMS analog synths involved, and an EMS vocoder.

ok thats enough, but  gotta love these pieces.

also Blizzard & Eminence orchestra will make a "mega soundtrack" CD/DVD release, included their most game soundtracks, named "Echoes Of the War" on november 22, with the help from two great Japanese composert: Kow Otani and Go Shiina.
http://www.echoes-of-war.com/
The Eternal Conflict - Diablo (Diablo 1 theme) is already there on demo preview page, but i really hope that they will make a symphonic Starcraft 1 Terran theme ^^, i love that song so much, i personally think it's the best Blizzard soundtrack.
(reminder:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wEs_1cGonk the main part, reworked ;)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H11vawG_eJI the original piece
)

...for the end you must hear one of Eminence's masterpiece (imo), the Metal Gear Solid theme:

some great percussion and of course, superb composing.

Woohoo. Thanks for posting the Blizzard soundtrack release from Eminence Psishock.

I actually found the Tristram theme left me wanting. It just doesn't capture that haunting feel of the city in the game. Regardless though It's really great that they decided to perform the tracks by real orchestra.

However, I found it very upsetting to see that they had absolutely no Warcraft I & II tracks in the compilation. I actually Emailed them to mention my disappointment since there were the most phenomenal tracks in those games. Very surprisingly, the Director of Eminence orchestra Emailed me back saying that they are aware of the omission and have plans in the works to record Warcraft II tracks.  AWESOME!

Forgot to mention about you older post, i did listened to the Omnisphere demonstration episodes from Spectrasonics. It's one, deadly amazing VSTi, i was totally stunned from the capabilities. Maybe some day i'll have the chance to get and work it.

with all due respect...

I didn't screw up. My original post was directly in line and on topic.

I have no idea why many people here at modplug have suddenly become overly aggressive, taking offense, or outright insulting one another.

I have thought this community had a standard of conduct that was unusual on the net - one that was based on mutual respect and tolerance for opposing views. It is unfortunate that recently this apparently has started to break down.

I'm not at all insulted by being moderated, but I do find it bizarre, especially in the light of the actual ill words between participants here. My personal opinion would be to suggest moderating those incidents instead of off topic replies.

However, this is not my forum, and I don't run things, and I highly value my participation here. There is nothing that says that I need agree with everything.

Now... this reply is as off topic as the one I am responding to...

so there is no confusion here is what I'm responding to.

Right, Clones.. "Birds of Fire" is an outstanding album.
I just noticed that it isn't the original line up, because of another bass player, not Rick Laird (who is much older).
I can brag to say that I once was at a concert in Arnhem by the original line up.
It was great, but one of the loudest concerts I ever experienced.
And the guy with the blue violin is Jerry Goldman.

Talking about John McLaughlin : Another fast one with Trilok Gurtu and Kai Eckhardt.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPxQp9KsPNE

By the way (I'm not sure about mentioning this already) :
1. With a tubelink one could remove anything trailing starting with the ampersand, like "&feature=related".

2. I found a nice app. to save the tubes on HD, by Jacek Pazera : Free Video Downloader (http://www.louigiverona.com/webarchive/samzen/download/fvd.7z)
It has the advantage of a direct download, no streaming view is needed during saving like Webvideocap.
Once the link is in the clipboard, FVD will fill this in and detects the title of the track :

QuoteBest solo hands down. This solo is all bout PURE emotion. I get chills everytime i hear it, and I've listened to it over 500 times easy.

I have never heard a guitar sing like that. Screw technical, I'll take emotional any day.

I wonder if Les Paul heard his invention played by the likes of Hendrix, John McLaughlin and Gilmore.

Found some details about the sphere:
QuoteIt's probably safe to say that Stagecraft built the largest mirror ball in existence for this tour. With a diameter of 16', the mirror ball rises up from the middle of the stadium field this time, to a final height of 70'. When it's finished its ascent, it bursts open, becomes about 24' wide, and reveals the 12000W Phoebus HMI fixture inside. The ball is also hit from both sides of the stadium by the tour's 4 Gladiator spotlights and by 12 VL2C automated luminaires, which are positioned underneath it.

Unfortunately the only concert here in Germany was sold out. I think I had sold my soul to get a ticket...
But the whole concert was shown on tv in 1994 and since 2006 there is a double-dvd-set available. Of course, it's not comparable with a "live-experience" but I've  not regretted buying the DVD...

LPChip: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? its one of the most awesome psychedelic horror anime series i've ever seen. It has a very complex plot. I know that tune from it.

"little dragon" - well, she may be a few years older compared to me, but still short, so she is little and cute for my taste. ^_^

uncloned: well most of the time the extra percussion seems prearranged, so i think the sound change time lines are preset too, on her keyboard. Also she may use keyboard split on some cases, for different sounds. Sometimes she just changes it on the fly, with 1 or 2 button combination. One thing is sure, this is definitely not an improvisation, gotta last a decade to learn these arrangement with perfect limb sync.

Quote from: "uncloned"I wonder how she changes sounds - I don't see her changing settings

She changes presets. Look at the video I posted, and look for the lights on the bottom keyboard section. When she changes preset, the light goes to the next. That changes all the sounds she's having set for the keyboards and foot pedals. I think (but not sure) that she changes to the next preset using a foot pedal/switch.

Nostromo - Magic Pad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a07VF4_Dqvk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a07VF4_Dqvk) (Uplifting trance)

but rather, do yourself a favor and download the full 720p 60FPS versions directly from his site, for intended visual excellence:

If you're wondering, yes there is a huge difference, compared to over compressed, 30fps youtube version.

DJ Fresh & Mindtunes: A track created only by the mind

QuoteBox explores the synthesis of real and digital space through projection-mapping on moving surfaces. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera.

Bot & Dolly produced this work to serve as both an artistic statement and technical demonstration. It is the culmination of multiple technologies, including large scale robotics, projection mapping, and software engineering. We believe this methodology has tremendous potential to radically transform theatrical presentations, and define new genres of expression.

I like how there are no audio effects in external shots, as in there's no medium the sound could travel through in the space. Realistic touch!

These tracks were made on 2 Amiga's and Octamed back in 1993. They used a lollipop stick contraption to play both computers in sinc. I used to talk to the guy on Facebook that was "Mole the Dipper". All his tracks were made this way up until 1994. Also see "Bizzy B", "Red Alert and Mike Slammer" stuff from around 1993. It was all made the same way ON TRACKERS!  8)

Someone has put this vid to go along with the first 2 (No.1 Takes a while to get going)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt2MUpQcuSI (Eye of the Dinosaur)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlVyWzlmtM8 (Eye of the Dinosaur remix from early 94)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW0rh0fC2VI (More Mole the Dipper Amiga madness!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOWKo7pZpSg (This samples a UK Sitcom from the 70's called "On the Buses")

There are SO many tracks from the early 90's that were made on TRACKERS and shaped "Electronic" music as we know today. My list goes on... But I won't bore you lol  :P

Now. I'm not 100% on this. But I was a member of "Dogs on Acid" many years ago. Breakage did a Q&A on it in about 2002-ish? I seem to recall he made all his tracks on Modplug as it was called at the time... This was made around that time I believe?

*note tracks 1 & 2 were most probably done on a midi sequencer and a hardware sampler*

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkh_U3dRGzw (Original mix) 1992

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCCPMf5Gue8 (Remix from 1992)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8imYRG8YYzw (Breakage Remix from 2000 ish made in modplug?...) Dodgy audio compression on this vid...

It's weird this video hasn't been posted here before. This is one of the most special and unique things I've come over on Youtube.

Animusic - Pipe Dream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyCIpKAIFyo)

IIRC their animation software core (doing both animation, syncing it with the music and rendering it all) was all developed by the founder/director Wayne Lytle

They were going to release a 3rd DVD, though it's been over 8 years (more for them probably) since that project was started. It's quite ironic now that in their "introduction" they stated how they wanted to be more time-efficient compared to the other two albums that apparently took 3 years to produce. But after once again 3 years had past since the project was kickstarted, no sign of visible progression.
Instead, Wayne updated with some really painful news like burn-out related disseases and the 3d-artist already being done with all his art and 3d-models before Wayne, all due to him literally being overtasked. That was the last update, 2015.

I would still like to believe it's still progressing, though not as fast as everybody anticipated.
If not, it would be a real sad ending of something unique.

Here's the kickstarter update-page:
