What if you use Modplug Tracker in windows 95/98 with gravis ultrasound? I'm trying to emulate win95 but having trouble... any thoughts?
ModPlug Tracker always used software mixing. There is literally zero difference between using a GUS, a SoundBlaster or a cheap onboard sound chip, they will all work exactly the same as far as mixing is concerned. You won't hit any memory limits because the audio is streamed to the sound card.
Now I see why software mixing is introduced in the 90s. I, was born in 2003, never heard of the 90s.

Just looked into it out of curiosity and because I wasnt all that into computers when it happened and was pretty young, and windows 95 was released in 1992 (not 1995 as I had thought) but win 98 was released in 1998 - this is from a quick duckduckgo search so please feel free to correct me. That explains why I dont remember it all exactly because in 1992 I was 9 years old X_X - if I remember correctly I was far more into the famicom at the time, and in 1998 I was 15 and very deep into being a band member at my dad's church and being very christian - somewhere around that time I remember deleting duke nekem 3d because I thought it was satanic (upside-down cross)... random thoughts, but yeah by 1998 I would have already started tracking 2 years earlier, but I think I was still sticking with impulse tracker. I think I only started using modplug a few years after 2000.
Back to the topic though, you are trying to emulate win95 without having "heard of" the 90s? I am pretty confused here.
