Sorry, but thats not correct. :) Electro is a combination of synth and downtempo i guess... Its what I mainly track nowadays. Electro is somewhat similar to a Chiptune, but more advanced.

Yes, ZoneAlarm and AntiVir are great programs. I've been using them for years, and not once has troyans, viruses and worms managed to get control over the computer (though I've had some spyware, but they couldn't connect to the internet as zonealarm blocked them)

AntiVir went ape shit when I tried to install win2k, giving me false positives all the time. I switched to Grisoft AVG and never had that problem again
EDIT: Now that I think of it, ZoneAlarm screwed my internet connection up, to where I couldnt connect to the internet at all until I formated and reinstalled windows again and again and again....

Indeed, the second song I've submitted was Magic. A funny fact is, that on the old site, I've removed Magic after a while because I didn't found it a worth song to have on the list anymore, which also reflected by the comments I've received. So for a long time, Boss was shown as 2nd song while it actually was the 3rd. :)
Abalon was actually the 4th song I've submitted, although I considder it the best of the 4, because it has something magic. :)

Sorry but E is wrong. A broken hard-drive can be used to do many strange things at least if you take the top cover off ;D use your imagination; - you can for example glue sandpaper to the platterns and use it to grind stuff ;)

If I can guess again, I guess C. The reason I picked E is because thats not that many working hard drives, while still having broken ones. But you made a program that shows HD activity, so you must have many HDs that work.

Well, each of the potential answers had some truth to them except one - C, the only one that wasn't picked.
B is false, as the most I've ever cycled was 25 miles, and that was as part of a charity event that runs yearly here. I was sponsored about ?40 to do it, though.
D is almost true - at this university we have a tradition of running into the sea on May the 1st, and I've done it twice. However, it's not at midnight after the sea has been warmed, but at dawn - 5am, in a sea not yet warmed by the sun, on a latitude equal to bits of Alaska.
So that leaves A as the correct answer! Relabsoluness has the next question. This happened what I was a Prefect in school, and took a group of new first years out to an "outdoor activity centre" as a team-building experience. One such activity was jumping off a gigantic pole and trying to catch a trapeze two metres in front of it, while only supported by a harness that was held in place by the rest of the team on the ground.

I'll go with D as that's my attitude, but it depends if you live in a place where the water is in any way drinkable or not. It even varies in the same country - St Andrews' tap water quality is poor compared to Aberdeen's, for example.

Can't be a guitar. Violin is much harder to learn, because the principle is the same, but the striking part makes it harder.
I've played Harmonica myself, so I know that isn't that hard.
Its either a Sax or Violin. I think you're a Sax person, so my answer is B

LPChip - Hm, I've never tried sax or violin, I thought about the harmonica really, so Relabsoluness was right, it was D. I've tried it and even though it's easy to produce sound, it seems hard to create subtle music. Yet, maybe I should have included other non-correct options which were considered a little easier on a general level than sax and violin.

Never heard of Leon Moorees... But I still think its easy to play it. Ofcource finding notes is harder, but just getting clear sound is easy, and by playing around with one would get you to good sound in less than half an hour. I was able to play one when I was 5 and only took me 5 to 10 minutes. Not that well ofcource, but it was really easy.
Maybe you have a more advanced one? Then I can imagine. Mine was one bank with 4 or 5 octaves or so. (about 20 cm)

I was going to play FarCry in Co-op, but the co-op mod for FarCry sucks bad. You must cap your connection to 15kb, can only be played over LAN and it can be possible that you walk in a corridor while your teammate sees you walking through walls.

Interesting, my preliminary research into tatoes (http://www.tatoes.com/) suggests a simple, cheap and potentially tasty way of getting rid of them. I guess I need to do more research.

No, my intention was not to do that, however, removing the one at the end made sense because renumbering would have been needed (I was not in the mood to do that.) Think about this, if you were to create something such as a question on this page, you had too many answer choices and did not realize it and you were not in the mood to reorder your letters or numbers that you had (most likely letters) (Reordering them would make sense because it would look weird otherwise.), you would delete the one at the end, right? Here is another thing to think about, Wong gues 5. Both 2 and 6, but that was not even a choice. Therefore, just because I deleted #5, that does not discard Speed-Focus' answer. I am not as intent on posting his middle name on the Internet for fear of madness of some people.

I am not sure what that means. Anyway, Volvagia does not breath acid, he breaths fire. After all, he is the (defeated on my file) boss of the Fire Temple. In fact, I got frustrated with the Forest Temple because I could not remember how to get to Phantom Ganon. He is defeated now though. So my solution was beating both the fire and water temples. Actually, I like to do part of the Water Temple (obtaining the Longshot) before the Forest Temple. So you had a 30 Deku stick carrying capacity and tried to kill King Dodongo (not Volvagia (Volvagia is quite painful; his moves seem to do a minimum of one to two whole hearts worth of heath. Actually, I think that his breath does Link three hearts of damage.)) with them instead of bombs? Oops! That was a big mistake. Did it work? Probably not. The Fire Temple was even frustrating, so I finished the Water Temple off to complete the Fire Temple (weird). Once I completed the Water Temple, I could (and did) obtain fire arrows. Volvagia's head must be made of steel or something if it takes a weapon such as the Megaton Hammer (as well as a sword) to defeat him. So you have the following things for the five temples.
Phantom Ganon (a miniture Ganon made of Poe material) - Forest Temple
Volvagia (a (not exactly miniature) dragon made of fire) - Fire Temple
Morpha (a strange pillar looking thing with a nucleus) (made of water) - Water Temple
Bongo-Bongo (an invisible eye (unless you use the Lens of Truth) with two fists (one on either side) - Shadow Temple
Twinrova (two witches that shoot fire or ice (depending which witch it is) out of their brooms) - Spirit Temple

Yep, there was a winner, and it was you, Cyperkid. How are you so good at these things? That's weird. I seem to like fighting the ReDeads and Gibdos for some reason. I am not sure why, but I do. I think that is why I like the Shadow Temple so much. Its music is kind of weird, but other than that, it is an interesting temple. I definitely am not too fond of the Water Temple because of its difficulty. The Forest Temple is moderately hard, the Fire Temple is slightly harder (Actually, some of the Fire Temple's rooms are very hard), the Water Temple is quite hard, the Shadow Temple seemed to be quite easy actually, and the Spirit Temple was harder again. The barriers (in Ganon's castle) are pretty hard as well.

Despite the fact that I have mentioned the Fire Temple in quite a few of my posts now, the answer is indeed 4 (Shadow). Like I said before, for some strange reason, I like to fight ReDeads and Gibdos (both are present in the Shadow Temple). However, some of those fiery enemies can be quite painful (especially Volvagia).

The Water Temple is OK, except for its difficulty level compared to the other temples (especially the Shadow Temple (seemingly the easiest of the five)).

Cyperkid says that the Commodore computer stole his childhood. That is quite interesting, however, mine is being stolen by something that everyone goes through. It is something called school. I cannot say that school has not been completely painful, but there are definitely some days when I wished that I had not gone to school. I do see where that would be confusing, because mb does indeed equal megabits and MB does indeed equal megabytes; therefore, when you inserted your measurements, you did insert megabits, not megabytes. I am going to guess that those were wave files, which would not be measured in bits, they would be bytes. They would definitely would not be measured in Nibbles or Gorillas either.

I've got a new CPU. Which one?
A. Athlon 64 3800+
B. Athlon 64 FX-60
C. Core2Duo E6400
D. Core2Duo Extreme X6800
I say that you bought a new computer with an Athlon 64 3800+ (by AMD). Is that computer going to have the 64-bit version of Windows Vista on it? I currently have the first release candidate version of the 32-bit version. I do not have a 64-bit computer. How is MPT making Rewbs' life harder? That's weird. I think that it has made music modifying easier! My main problem is this: I cannot use it on very much of anything accept for my home computer. It does not exist for Palm OS (or Windows Mobile (crappy in my opinion compared to Palm OS and its desktop companions)).
I'm with Wodd on this one.
Gonna have to say C. It's the only sensible choice, (As far as my Athlon-hating, budgeting, performance...ing ways go.)

Its quite funny though: What Wodd said is somewhat correct too. One year ago, I've bough a new pc with this processor and everything on it. I needed to go faster, and this is the best processor that can be on this motherboard.

I did try Cubase once but it totally overwhelmed me and I found it way too cluttered.
And I dislike FL Studio in almost every way, except for the -8.2 dB default mixing level, but the program is just unusable for me, not to mention the randomness of it.
And I bought Renoise a few years ago after moving on from MPT, and I still like to stick to it.
And OpenMPT just isn't for me.

My question:
I've just ordered an external 250 GB harddrive. Whats the reason behind it?

I would say that it is probably not A because I know from experience that external media tends to be slower than internal media for accessing time(the same goes for going across a network). Plus, if you unplugged an external hard drive, then realized that you needed it later, you would have to plug the hard drive back in (otherwise you would not be able to access the data). I see that I had posted A before. I am not totally sure why I would have done that. Anyway, how about B since I do not see that one on the board yet.
When I checked my e-mail, I noticed that I had received one from this forum. In my mind I thought this. "Wow! I have not received an e-mail from Modplug in a long time. Maybe it is another update (to Modplug Tracker)!" When I saw what it was, I thought to myself "Wow! I have not received replies regarding this topic in a long time! Let's check it out!" I am not sure if those were my exact thoughts, but I believe that they were close.

Lol, I really had to think what happened, but now I remember again.
I had a problem with my mainboard, so I had to do a bios update. After I done that, the bios was reset (obviously) and it had put my SATA RAID HD to mode non-sata. In other words, my 2 identical HD's (mirrorred) became 2 different partitions. I had to copy all data so I could recreate a new SATA configuration.

I am going to guess that the correct answer is A, but I could be (and probably am) wrong. As for the Visual Studio thing, you could probably try Visual C++ or C# (which I have never seen other than in the form of Windows on my screens/on pianos and keyboads (musical ones)) (although I guess computer keyboards indirectly have C#) (by pressing C and then pressing Shift + 3 (not on the num pad though, as that is Page Down, not the number sign) (Sharp)) (not the actual code though). OK, so what was all of that weirdness about? I am not sure, but it was weird. Perhaps is was even about as weird as the fact that I had temporarily forgotten my user name (I accidentally typed in Wodd)!

Since both A and D appear to be wrong, I am going to guess that the answer is B, although I have not seen ModPlug Tracker ask about downloading updates in quite a while. Though it does say "Tried," so perhaps your tries have failed whenever you did them. I have tried to change the code of the older (64 channel/256 row) version, but I could not totally figure out how to work the void codes in where they needed to be. I tried to put those in, but it did not work.
Given that for a couple of days I've had log-in problems(when logging in, the main page shows that I'm logged in, but for example there's no 'Show posts since last visit'-link), C sounds likely :)

Although your reasoning is totally wrong, C is the answer though.
I have changed a few settings for the server where all php pages are now rendered through FastCGI. This allows me to keep php running all the time without the need to fire it up for each application. This saves resources and makes loading pages even faster. Its barelly noticable but it doesn't slow down that much anymore.

I think that the answer is b) because it sounds good. I liked playing with QBasic. The only games that I can really remember having played on it though are Gorillas and Nibbles. Though I did enjoy modifying them (at least Nibbles) (I modified things like the number of lives you have, the color scheme and your starting score). I think that I managed to make it go beyond two players one time, but I do not remember how I did it. Though, I do not remember how to do a lot of that stuff now because I have not used QBasic in years.

Since I was starting programming in 2002, I always searched for methods of including sound effects and music in my games. Well, the first method was the pc speaker. soon, i found the first OPL tools and created nice sound effects with Angelo Motolla's SoundLab. I also had a tracker, called FmTracker and did some mediocre tunes with it. However, I didn't have any clues about the demoscene, although these tools were kinda involved in it. After writing my very own midi tracker and player, I found a program called "DS4QB" - It was a win32 host that used the BASS.DLL sound system and you could control it directly from Quickbasic (which is a DOS language). Pretty cool! There was a tool called MO3 included with DS4QB. This tool could read IT files... wait, IT? I've seen that extension before, in Jazz Jackrabbit 2! There were some IT files... That were the very first module I've played. However, I still had no clues how to make them myself. Soon, I found BWSB, a dos-based MOD player for C, Pascal and Quickbasic. It was pretty cool for a dos tool! I read the manual and found out that one can create music modules using Scream Tracker... Well, I browsed the web for this program, but I didn't find it, but i found Modplug and I really liked it! Well, that's the first part of the story :)

bvanoudtshoorn, indeed, dosbox is a powerful tool, but it's far too slow to run oldschool trackers (which i only use for experiments anyway) and some old games still don't run properly on it, so i have a Win98 computer beside my XP machine -> wrong :P

RWP is right again! PSPad (http://www.pspad.com) is a very versatile text editor, you can use it for simple texts, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and many more langauges, it also has a wide range of nice tools built-in. it is very, very powerful. it beats all the programs above :D

in fact, it's not a real plugin (i'm working on this, but i know too little C to get into the code of the dsp sdk). it's a program that runs all the time and checks if XMplay is running. If it is running, the programm will show the fully customisable systray icons. The actions are passed via DDE messages.

During this hour, my internet connection got lost (and I didn't knew) so the hour got past, and I was so in my song that I didn't noticed that the hour past. After about 1 hour and 45 minutes and a wonderfull song later, I realised that my connection was gone. I obviously was out the race.
Story 2: I once participated in a chip compo and made a 1k entry. I used a special made sample and I got it to distort the sound. I submitted the entry, and later found out that somekind of gameboy emulator screwed with the volume level, making my entry totally crap.

Story 1: I have participated in a few OHC's but never encountered my internet to be lost during this. :) It was a madeup story. :D
Story 2: This one actually did happen. I made my 1k entry for BCC7 or 8 and before that, I was playing some gameboy games, also to get some inspiration by the music. For some weird reason, whenever I had the gameboy emulator turned on, the volume level in modplug was huge. This allowed me to distort the sound. So me feeling awesome about this discovery, and knowing I had the victory in my pocket, went bezerk. I finished the entry and sent it over to Nula.
The next day as I was still in my fuz about the song, I listened to the song and discovered that it sounded dull and boring. That distorted effect was missing. I thought that somehow the volume levels were mixed up. So I tried putting them to max, but they already were. I retraced my steps but couldn't find it. Later that day when I gave up, I decided to continue my gameboy game from the day before. The song failed, so I needed a new one. I got a bit of inspiration, fired up the tracker and the sound was back!!! So I mailed nula about this, and he said laughting: Haha, maybe we should add a text with your entry: Only play when you launch the gameboy emulator! :nuts:
He allowed me to create a new song and use that one instead. I created the song: Airforce Ritual and participated with that song. It got 2nd. :)

Your first instinct is right, LPChip, unfortunately, Jojo gets the point because he guessed the anwer before you did. Whether it is a word or not would depend on the context. In the case of Princess Daisy, it would be a proper noun, and, therefore, not an acceptable word (as Bookworm does not accept proper nouns). However, in the case of the flower (and a common noun), it would be a valid word.

I've decided to help the clan by doing trainings and making up tactics. Its something I did when I was a clanleader, but I hadn't enough time because I also was the clan leader. The answer is correct. (although I currently am using XP x64. I didn't uninstalled it, I just created a second install on my pc without x64. True, I don't like x64, but as my current install is damaged, I am using the x64 install to make my slipstreamed XP :D
Let me first explain what a slipstreamed XP means. Basically a slipstreamed version of an OS is a version that is modified. You start with any XP cd and then add stuff like SP2, add drivers, you can even remove programs and change settings on the newly made cd. The result is, that when windows is being installed, it gets out of the box with predefined settings and programs. You can even set stuff like the skin, users, serial number, etc...

As for the method of installing Windows on this pc while posting is very easy too. I use a program called Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 (which is free), which allows you to create a virtual pc in a window. You boot that pc, and you get a bios. Then you can install any OS on it and leave your pc settings in tact. Its great to create a second windows install in it, so you can play with everything, like virusses etc. The only thing that can happen, is that you need to reinstall windows on that virtual machine, but it won't change your current windows install.
