I've learned the hard way never to discuss faith or religion on the internet. So... how's the weather?
cold - we had a cold front move through - but not too cold
Sat on my balcony with the cat on my lap and watched the sunset.
That sounds nice... I'd do the same if it wasn't so cold... but I have no cat and the sun set a whole bunch of hours ago...
I actually liked the topic as it was progressed, and was ashamed to see it get this twist.
I've therefore split the post in 2 topics.
The weather here is quite pleasant. A warm day, but there's a bit of wind, and it's a tad chilly. It's summer here in Australia (or getting that way, anyway).
Autumn leaves
It still looks like summer here. No rain, no cold; maybe the time has ended sooner than you thought!
Damn cold weather, chilly winds, dirty leaves everywhere. Like the autumn has ended but winter haven't started yet. Perfect for ye goode olde black metal
cold and rainy. autumn. :\
In the morning, it was very cold. It was like freezing. The ground was covered with snow even. Luckily things changed as the day progressed. In the evening the sun shined and things were actually quite nice. Too bad it didn't lasted for very long. In the afternoon the sun really shined big time and it was very hot. I think it was even like 40 degrees Celsius. It was so hot that I finally woke up. uhm yeah...
Sam_Zen:
Autumn Leaves is actually a song by Marko Fürstenberg. Highly recomended.

In Sweden it is rainy right now. Rainy and cold. But it's alright.
Here in France, the falling leaves drift by the window. The autumn leaves are red and gold.
But soon we'll hear old winter's song... when autumn leaves start to fall.
8) C'est une chansooon...
2 maleek :
I referred to the performance by Miles Davis. The wiki :
"Autumn Leaves" is a much-recorded popular song. Originally a 1945 French song "Les feuilles mortes" (literally "The Dead Leaves") with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, the American songwriter Johnny Mercer wrote English lyrics in 1947.
I have some CD's with Davies. Although I did not know that he recorded a song with that title. I wonder if Fürstenberg; one of my favorite techno producers, are influenced by Miles in any way.
Anyway: the weather remains a' constant here in Karlstad, Sweden.
Rainy, holiday in Amsterdam.
Quote from: "Rakib"Rainy, holiday in Amsterdam.
You're in Amsterdam? Cool!
You really did picked the wrong time though, m8 :p
Rainy and cold in Amsterdam . Then one prefers to stay inside.
So, according to Fox News, Rakib will be in dopeshops, whorehouses and dark rooms.. :)
Haha, back from Amsterdam now. Had a awesome time there. But we were a bunch of norwegians taking a ahort trip. The plane tickets was very cheap so we had to go. A very surrealistic city, compared with Oslo, lots of drugs, whores and dark rooms. All very illegal here.
Back home unfortunately the first snow came today.
Right now its the rainy season here, but this is G's fault...We pray to the weather here (monsoon, crops and such) and his non-chalant reference to `The Seasons' have angered the Weather Gods (satellites). Why'd you have to talk about religion here??
Clearly mr machinesmith (if that is you real name), you have little respect for my belief in the Seasons. I couldn't care less tho, because I have some really really old books that I've interpreted in a way that allows me to blurt out virtually anything.
These "satellites" you speak of, have you ever seen one? If not, how do you know it exists?
I've learned the hard way never to discuss weather or season belief on the internet. :D
So... what's your favourite pet ?

This is Butch - the smartest ferret I've had so far. He could count and figure out spacial puzzles. He died about 3 years ago unfortunately. His picture was at hand.

I was very unhappy with how this weather topic progress, and now I'm proud!

Here's pootle (http://www.manatee-world.com/images/florida_manatee_300.jpg)
It's also known as Daragah the Hydro Elemental Deity (The one G has to say sorry to! :x ). This photo proves that it exists - thus you HAFTA say sorry now! Our Beliefs (and, more importantly, overwatered crops DEMAND it! (Please!!) )
Yes Pootle/gah doubles up as a pet too if you're stateside do take the oppurtunity to see, He/it is somewhere in Florida.
[Meanwhile...]
Loved the thinly veiled sarcasm and allusions G man, almost had a nose milk moment (well Nose-Tea moment, hence why it never happened, ever shoot out 40C beverages through the nose?) anyway liked it so much that I started searching for your tunes except couldn't find them, link?
That looks a bit like a manatee.
Playing Tales of monkey island X)
That picture tells nothing as it's obviously photoshopped. I can tell from the pixels. Even if it weren't photoshopped, I wouldn't trust a mammal living in the ocean. It's unnatural.
[Later...]
I don't really have any tunes anymore... but some or left on my fabulous myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/elsken). They all suck tho, so I stopped more or less (except for the occasional MPT compos).
Tales of Monkey Island seems nice, I even got the free episode on talk like a pirate day, but haven't gotten around to playing it... using a mouse is so much like working... I might get the 360 version*

Sunny, 72°F today
This is the off my balcony - the other shore is a 300 feet or so away.

Naw - my bed is on the other side of the apartment.
When going outside, it's Celsius, so much colder..
its poooring rain..
I thought the cool summer last year in the US and the harsh winter would put the GW hoaxists to bed, but now they're claiming that global warming (excuse me "climate change") causes cold winters. OK, Gore, OK; we believe you! You climatology expert, you! ::)
**Ramp up his lithium, he's still cogent...**
is it possible they could just be... wrong?
and not involved in a hoax?
in the early 80's, when Chicago had 40F below zero days the talk then was of the coming ice age.
anyone who thinks they know everything, regardless of the subject, is a bit silly in my book.
However, change will happen - that is the only constant in the universe. And man would not be the first creature to terraform the earth.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Oxygenation_Event
http://www.damninteresting.com/how-bacteria-nearly-destroyed-all-life
also it would be ironic if global warming is offsetting a new ice age.
Ooh, irony indeed! The calm before the storm...
Actually i remember "the Coming Ice Age" was a topic during the Carter years, when i first became politically aware, very late 70s. But it died out pretty quickly compared to GW.
As far as the issues of hoax vs miscalculation, those who believe it can be ignorant of the facts, those who PERPETUATE it, especially as a means of more government control, are participating in something sinister, IMO.
There are truly not enough free thinkers to stand up and say "Oh yeahh? Says you!" when it comes to the slithering encroachment of government control. Many of them on one hand cry out for free speech and human rights, but then bow down Igor-like to "official" justifications of government control. Conservative or liberal, every free human being should look with a jaundiced eye at government power, even when "our guy" is enforcing it.
I firmly believe people have a right to accept the GW premise, and run their lives according to this belief. But the rock-throwing comes when they try to use government -- local or federal or international -- to make others practice their religion.
This "its all because of global warming" is bullshit imho.
I still believe the government is using this to cause fear among people and to keep us dumb. They need to do this in order to keep their power to themselves.
I also still believe that these changes are due to the 2012 event.
Even if greenhouse gases don't accelerate global warming, which I believe to be true, what is there to lose? Isn't decreasing oil dependency a good thing? Like it or not, the world has a limited amount of resources, so why not try to cut back on using them all up?
With the rate science makes new discoveries (especially in the incredibly complex climate field), what was thought 30 years ago is hardly relevant today. Just like what is thought to be the truth today may not be relevant in 30 years. But still, if there are indicators that we're fucking up the world isn't doing something about it a hell of a lot better than the wait and see option?
As for conspiracies, who are most likely to try to try to fool the public? Democratically elected representants from all over the world or the multinational corporations fearing a change in the world order?
On the other hand, 2012 is the most alarming proof that it's all just a conspiracy to keep people dumb. :P
Actually, you just mentioned another statement that isn't true and what we've been told.
The resources are not unlimited, but we could harvest so many energy from resources other than what we currently use. Like from water, the sun (on a better way), wind, etc.
Why didn't we do this already?
It costs money to research these abilities, while the gain from the energy is too little. Basically, as soon as the profit from the energy is not worthwhile, people are not going to research it. If profit wasn't a factor, we wouldn't even have cars that run on gas/petrol/diesel any more.

But here is an ice age article from 74
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,944914,00.html
QuoteSince the 1940s the mean global temperature has dropped about 2.7° F.
So yeah, statements like that - put out in the general news and sensationalized, distorts what science is there.
As you can see here
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8b/Nasa-giss_1880-2009_global_temperature.png
the above statement and the current talk about global warming do not violate the data.
However, this country (USA) is totally polarized and no one wants to work with, let alone understand, the other point of view.
Things like the following only add to the fire of irrationality.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/feb/12/utah-climate-alarmists
Both political parties are only interested in finding ways to be in office instead of truly solving the country's problems together. And the immediate danger is fiscal which started long before Obama. Both parties have been robbing Social Security for decades....
To repeat... BOTH parties in America are failing.
Slowly the snow is vanishing here. This is the entrance path seen from my house.
One could argue about the average temp going up or down, but I notice that things are getting more extreme.
More rain or snow, stronger drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

Polarization is GOOD, especially in politics. When you have completely uncompromising positions in government, then the impasse means nothing gets done. I like that (except when it comes to national defense). The less government does, the safer most people feel. I used to this think this would be a problem though if one side got a clear majority, but as we can see in the Tea Party protests (just like the VW protests in the 60s), clear majorities can be diffused...
If the US politicians actually did *nothing* it would be an improvement.
the facts are is that both parties have increased the deficit, raided social security, lied its way into starting a war, almost killed the US human space program, gave bankers a free ride and huge cash bailout, raised taxes, turned a blind eye to corporations exporting jobs, manufacturing capacity, and now high technology. And that is just a list off the top of my head.
The US gov't totally lost its credibility at home since Richard Nixon and despite all of the rhetoric has never regained it.
Harbinger, our country is messed up. Ross Perot, and now Ron Paul make some sense but will never get into a position to make a difference because too many special interests, corporations, and corrupt politicians stand to lose if the gov't were truly cleaned up.
It is a sad state of affairs. And I don't see it getting better unfortunately.
Bah, politics, I don't know much about them, other then that I don't wanna get into them, mostly because I don't care at this age where it does not effect me, but mebbe I will in a few years... Either way, US government is not harming me too much, seeing as how I don't live in the U.S.
Now then, about the weather... It's been pretty lousy in the fact that this year had no snow, which just doesn't make sense. I did, however, have a dream filled with snow, my alarm woke me up for school and I thought it was a snow day, went back to sleep... I was late that day.
