This uses a revised golden ratio scale

Compare to original golden ratio scale

Who's Charlie Buddha Ghandi ?
Very nice electronic sounds ! With very nice movements of phases along in time. So very 'composed'.
I like the original and the revised scales..
Still think a clean piano performance is not fit for these kind of things, because it's well-tempered already.

Charlie Buddha and Ghandi are my ferrets :-)

The revisionist phiter  was an improvisation that I recorded midi and then added three more soft synths. One of them, intended for percussion, was used to trigger sound effects. There was some added VST echo, etc.

I'm liking Mike's PHI scales for ambient very much too. It sounds very alien.

The first ambient version was also an improvisation that used two soft synth tracks of the GR20

I very much agree - the piano is... too normal to support the scale.

Thanks for the listen and comment Sam!

Sam,

I am sorry, I mis-remembered. The revisionist phiter was performed with one instance of z3ta+ and one instance of DR-008 loaded with ambient sounds.

After performance I added an instance of z3ta+ with a heavily modified therimin patch and another instance of DR-008 + ambient sounds through VST effects.

The DR-08 during performance was critical because I was able to discover the sounds as I performed the piece. (I only tested it a bit before beginning the recording.)

So it is an "enhanced" improvisation.

(both soft synths come with Sonar)

Is z3ta+ a VSTi ?

Hi Sam,

Sorry I wasn't clear - yes it is a VSTi that comes with Sonar 7

that is a review of the stand alone version

the main reason I use it is because it supports microtonal tuning.

But... it is obviously a really nice synthesizer.

DR-008 is the other VSTi - it is intended to be a drum set trigger by midi.

the music fits perfectly to the space scene in the picture, calming and meditative stuff uncloned. The first two piece has a special charm, the piano felt a bit conventional, but not even near bad.
