Title: ASIO routing
Post by: Rxn on May 02, 2009, 20:28:33
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to route instruments to different hardware
channels which could be, for instance, FX sends to an effect processor or
multispeaker outputs?

Would be there much coding going on in order to impelement that since
ASIO support is already there?

Support +++
This would be very, very nice. And possible. And easier with ASIO support.

This would mean that OMPT should have the choice of more output devices.
So you have to assign certain sources to certain output lines.

It has the option to save a WAV in four channels (Quad). Never did seem to work. Obviously wrong protocol.

In this multichannel mode, I would prefer to set the output route of each pattern-channel, not of each instrument.

QuoteIn this multichannel mode, I would prefer to set the output route of each pattern-channel, not of each instrument.

This is a bit tricky for one reason -- when you are writing a tune from ground
up, that wouldn't make much difference, if you route from the channel or
the instrument. Yet if you want to mess around with an oldie that may be
a bit of a problem, because the instruments are all over the channels
there.

So you might end up with strings or drums changing speakers from
pattern to pattern if you limit yourself to channel routing only.

My instruments wouldn't be all over the channels. Changing that would be on purpose.
If the strings be at channel 5, they will stay there throughout the song, unless otherwise.

Yeah, but that might as well be someone else's oldie that you want to
perk a bit put for a more qualitative modern listening experience.
