here you have some non music related but cool freebies

http://www.anim8or.com A nice 3D modeller
Here some tutorials.
LESSON 1 http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2677
LESSON 2 http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2697
LESSON 3 http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2708

http://www.daz3d.com A nice 3D poser.  You can make humans to be posed and you can add lights, cameras and some animation.  You need to look for the following items that are free:
-Daz studio
-Michael 3.0
-Victoria 3.0
-Aiko 3
-Emoticons
I don?t know how long they wil be free.
There is a lot of bad taste when you look for freebies.
But there is a chance that you find something more or less good if you google RENDEROSITY

http://www.shatters.net/celestia/  A nice space 3D viewer with tons of addons.  If you would have ever dreamed about seeing planets, stars and galaxies in a 3D viewer, you are going to love it.

Other softwares you may find by googling
-Stellarium : a nice planetarium
-Mikael Lundberg Space Shuttle : A complete simulation of the real panels of an STS vehicle.
-Orbiter Space Flight Simulator : The most eye candy and realistic space sim ever
-Orbitron : A satellite tracker

For those who want to write down music in the traditional way (and also older notations), the best free software is lilypond:

An audio app:
Encoding and decoding the OGG format. Just drop the file on the small box of "OggdropXPd".

EDIT : A tool to work with VST-plugins on their own, nice to test them out.

Ooh, heard of that, you can program glitch beats on it much easier as well, from what I've heard (although that one VST still takes the win for easiest to make glitch beat..)

Also:
GraphicsGale - a very cool Japanese (read:) pixel art program. Does not have lots of filtering and macroscopic image editing abilities, but is absolutely great for pixel artists, especially ones for the handheld market (provided you can't afford ProMotion). Yes, it's also in English.

Another load of free software

http://kdiff3.sourceforge.net/ - nice GUI diff util that allows to ignore C++ comments and compare whole directory structure
http://users.ugent.be/~bpuype/wget/ - most powerful downloader software I've seen (commandline only, GUI available here: http://www.cybershade.us/winwget/, you have to know commandline parameters anyway to use it)
http://www.cygwin.com/ - home of the grep, sed and bash shell for Windows (you should know that link already :!: ).
http://upx.sourceforge.net/ - archives EXE files while remaining whole functionality (this could save me 4 megs of traffic when I downloaded SVN tree if developers would added it to post-build event    Yeah, that's feature request  :P  ).
http://www.un4seen.com/ - XMPlay audio player which handles .MOD files in very high level (I mean shows comments inside MOD  :)  ) and handles everything that Winamp handles with plugins and also has it's own MIDI plugin that uses .SF2 files.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html - nice commandline tool to show/hide/open/close applications, change soundcard volume, shutdown Windows and so on.
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm - nice hex/binary file editor.
http://www.artmoney.ru/index.html - if you wanna see final movie in some game, but don't wanna spend precious time beating final boss...
