discovered this might come in handy when i played my last live-gig,
where i was mainly using my midi-keyboard to play/trigger some VSTi.

just doesn't sound good when you end a track with a straight cut.
(if there is another possibility to achieve this i'd also be happy)

Add one or more empty patterns in the end. :)

yep, and be sure to put a "===" or "^^^" in the first row of these empty patterns (which aren't empty now anymore :D)...

that won't do any good when you're using only one pattern that's being looped all the time

Why not? You can use go to pattern on transition options, used for live playback to use it.
